No, I just tried filming with it today as a test. It's not suitable for it as it has no manual controls and only supports 35p. I was however curious how it would perform plus I wanted to see how Leica M glass would work with video.
Otherwise I'm not filming at all, and not filming with the NEX is as subset of that. One day I'll return to doing video again, but I don't particularly feel the urge to do so any time soon. When I do it will be with the 5DII (or 5DIII if it is out by then)
Luka and Joe, thanks, much appreciated Joe, excellent links!!!
Luka, excellent compositions, love the first two shots!!! Fascinating shot rotated 180deg. As Joe, suggested, a great way to compose shots I also have found the 35 Lux at near MFD, can give the real creamy Leica look to the shots, even with the 35 Lux II. I have noted even though the shots are in focus, there is a range of acceptable focus, even at f/1.4, and at the cusp, or the edge, the creamy Leica look becomes very strong.
It will be interesting whether Ricoh, or Sony NEX 7, as which proves to be a winner here! I do like the simplicity of Ricoh, and getting the design right to work with M mount lenses.
Wow, lots of great images in the past few days/week. Nice to see some new contributors too!
Here's a slew of images from a visit with some friends to "the farm" which is actually a local German club's summer retreat area where many families from the club spend their lazy summer days. Many are from the old country and now retired, so it has a bit of an older vibe along with a mix of German and Canadian kitsch.

The $10 special was quite tasty and a good value:

Ryan, looks like the 50 Lux is glued onto your M9. It seems to have given you some additional inspiration as the results are quite impressive. BTW, I love that rundown looking location and especially the columns. I have some columns photos waiting to be posted...
Luka: Interesting take on Vegas. It's been 10 years since I've been there, and I'm sure some has changed a lot, while other aspects haven't. I really like the 'behind the scenes' image, as it's a stark contrast to the 'face' of the city. I also find examples of the patriotic slogans/displays to be cheesy. I'm fine with anyone expressing their individual patriotism in whatever (civilized) manner they please, however, it bugs me whenever I see patriotism used as a marketing tool by some corporate entity. Also, interesting take with your upside-down images, I particularly like the second one with the spiral stairs. It's intriguing to the eye.. I recognized that it's upside-down but something about it works. The first one is also intriguing, but it's much more obviously upside-down, leaving enough of a question in my mind whether you did it in error.
Gregory, cool stuff from the Calgary Tower. You'll have to come over to the CN Tower and take the new $175 open air adventure… Here's a blog post about it by a Reuters photographer. It would seem that lens changing won't be an option… http://blogs.reuters.com/photo/2011/07/27/teetering-on-the-edge/
Charles, nice work from Thailand. Are you sure those are unprocessed images?
KL, love the first one with the borrowed M9. Which lens was that?
Joe, nice work with the airport images. Have you posted those before as B&W? They feel familiar, though it could also be the general airport vibe. Speaking of airports, I'm gearing up for some NFL games, though won't make it to a Patriots game this year.
eos3d - you're showing some great colour out of the M8! a couple pages back the one of the apples in baskets in particular has a great feel.
Ricoh GXR vs. NEX7.... I've been waiting for the M module for the GXR. I'm drawn to it based on the many good reviews about the design of the camera, but the NEX7 might interest me more due to the built-in EVF. I'd get the EVF for the GXR, but I can foresee times when I would want to use it with strobe - either radio triggers or on camera - and wouldn't be able to do so and also use the EVF. (It's also a problem with the M9 if strobing and shooting wider than 28mm) I really don't like working off the back LCD displays, though I suppose one solution might be one of those 2X magnifier hoods... just it's one more thing to carry. Given the price point, it might be worth getting both to determine which I like better.
Thanks Ron I like your shots you managed to capture the mood very beautifully. It almost seems like I'm in the middle of these people when I look at your pictures. PP'ing is very nice as Charles already mentioned.
Wow Ron, that caravan series is brilliant!! You've really managed to capture/imply a certain mood and atmosphere. The sense of a sort of forlorness is beautifully captured without it turning into a parody. The compositions and processing are excellent, enhancing that mood but again without going over the top as one might be tempted to do. Really superb work.
Thanks for the link Ron. Very interesting. No I won't paying no $175 for the 15 minute privlige at the CN tower. After all I was on the roof of the Calgary tower twice for a total of 5 hours, How much would that cost .
Although if they want, to hire my services we can talk
Me thinks they could use some nice Gregory Rogalsky images taken with the Nikkor 8mm 2.8 /wide Lux F7/ Leica M.
Nikkor 8mm 2.8 AI on Nikon D3
As far as taping all the part on I do make sure to wrap the strap around my wrist a couple of times. And I am free to change lenses, as much as I want. Of course I am very carefull.

35 1.4 Summilux On Leica M9 taken by my pal Keven who is working on the project with me.
Thanks eos3d, Luka and I thought you might find that link interesting Gregory Definitely a cool project you're undertaking - and you're not wearing any kind of safety harness either! It would probably take me 15-20 minutes to gather up the will to stand right at the railing.
Charles, lovely image - it has a great feel to it!
Luka, that camping place gave me the feeling of a setting one would visit frequently during childhood on family trips where the kitsch and forlorn, ramshackle atmosphere wouldn't be recognized or understood. Instead, intense childhood memories would be developed that decades later would not match the reality seen as an adult. At least for me, the place evoked strong childhood memories that I thought would be difficult to communicate through photos because it's such a personal connection. But I'm glad some of that feeling has come across, since I'm sure many other viewers will have visited similar places or had similar experiences during childhood.
Here are some more... the people photos (my friends and some of their friends) in this set are a bit more lively...
Awesome work all!
latest +Photographer Interview just posted - chap is an ex-colleaque who will soon be joining the dark side (and this thread). hope it's a good read. He operates photography/adventure tours and says the M9 is fairly popular (meaning, 1 or 2 bring it on tours and leica is not as omnipresent as the Nikonian/Canonian sets).
Eos3d, thanks Very nice set of shots! This is great series of shots for those deciding on a M8.
KL, congratulations....great interview! Melvin has a fascinating background, and the opportunity that he has on these adventure tours. I would love to join one of these trips
