Dierk - great sets, especially the portraits! Is that really a 3 legged cow in that last pic? I really like your B/W processing
thanks, Rsolti13
B/W PP is pure LR3
uh, I did not notice this poor animal with three legs
more in B/W with a bit more PP: LR3 and CS3 with filter Topaz Adjust and Nik Silver Efex
(too much PP for this thread??) Leica Macro-Elmar-M 90mm f/4
Ron - you had a couple of awesome sets over the weekend. Love the colors, processing, comps on a lot of those shots. My favorite of all was the last shot of the second set
Thanks Ron I posted one pic in B&W previously. Others are new old stock! I took a bunch with the same vantage point (camera on dining table with LCD switched off). Do you cover baseball? Red Sox is doing pretty alright, I guess
Ron, both excellent sets of storytelling pics coupled with excellent compositions. On the first set, I like the compositions in 5 (entrance?) & 6 (the shadow in reflection) best which on the 2nd set, the "mens" door is excellent. Love those kid pics!
Charles, nice shot of the tree branches with the 35Lux.
Dierk, welcome to the thread. A stunning first post! Great pics throughout, from the portraits to the still life!! Can't wait to see more of your work here.
Eos3d, more nice shots with the M8. Excellent compositions and I like the bench shot
KL, another excellent interview with excellent travel pictures. Thanks for sharing.
Ryan, I like the reflection shot on this last set. Nice! How's the 50Lux holding up?
Ron, very nice set. Definitely a very different mood in the shots. My favorite is of course the "Paris Duck" shot but I also really like the restroom shot.
Dierk, welcome to the thread. Some really brilliant B/W shots. My favorites are the portriats and the last shot of the orchid.
Charles, very nice capture of your fiancee.
eos3d, very nice series from Luxembourg.
KL - great inverview!
Ryan, nice set - my favorite is the reflection shot.
I forgot to answer this: rsolti13 wrote:
Did you find any US ducks to take pictures of while over here?
No! Shocking as it might sound, not a single duck! Three weeks without so much as a quack. I'm thinking about starting a charity organization to provide the duck-impoverished Americans with some feathery friends. I have a confession to make though - I might bear some responsibility for the current financial unrest.. I happened to mention the absence of ducks to an economist friend of mine in strictest confidence - or so I thought. Somehow S&P found out and while few people know this, one of their more important variables when giving a credit rating is ducks/capita..
Joe and Luka, thanks
Ryan, nice set! The reflection makes for an interesting shot
Dierk, superb B&W shots! #2 is my favourite, beautiful composition and lighting
Luka, excellent set! Love the shot of Monument Valley!!
I have a question for recent M9 switchers, how does zeiss zm lenses compare to the respective summarits/crons...I'm actually entertaining a crazy thought about selling all my gear and going the Leica route, given my style of shooting...Of course cost is pretty prohibitive..would one even entertain a m8.2 (the prices have dropped down so substantially)
Najibs, very nice shots! Love the composition of #3
crazeazn, tough question! See if you can borrow or rent an M8/9, and see whether you love the RFF style first, before investing too much
I haven't shot with an M9, and currently have an M8, so I can't compare, BUT I do love my M8. I've had it about a month now, and it's great. I've hardly used my Canon 5D since getting the Leica. I've used the following lenses so far:
Bang for the buck, the 40/2 is my favourite, but since acquiring the 35/2, I might have to sell it. You just can't beat the 40/2 for the price, around $600. If you want a deal, the CV 35/2.5 is a real bargain for what you get. The ZM 25/2.8 is super sharp, and has amazing colours, but I find it a bit heavy on the M8 compared to the others. Color, sharpness and bokeh are top notch though. Zeiss build quality is superb.
