Mirek, sure, but this was down river of where he took his shot. This one, at oxbow bend is much closer, although he had a much higher vantage point:
And I believe it was shot from a place called Snake River Overlook - there is a parking lot now. I think your picture I referred to originally is shot from the same place, but 30º CCW.

Congrats on the new gear Boris! I'm very interested to see your images with the 21.

Ron, the 21 SE is very very good. Optically it is probably one of the best lenses, even slightly better than my 18 SE and 24 Elmar. Even wide open the corners a very sharp and nearly no FC at all distances. Mechanically the focus is very stiff. It is not possible to focus this lens with one finger. If this doesn't get better in the next weeks I will send the lens to Solms for an adjustment.
I did some test shots with the M9-P and the 21 SE today. Here are the links to some full-res examples:
Boris, thanks for those links! That is impressive wide open (the wall), though the background blur in the wide open forest image is a bit annoying. I guess it's a consequence of a highly corrected lens, perhaps compounded by the sharpening. But pleasing blur isn't something I expect to see much from a 21mm anyway. It's nice to see a flat plane of focus though, something the ZM21 f/2.8 doesn't provide.
Interesting also that the M9-P's exif describes it as an M9.
Boris, thank you Congratulations on the M9-P and the SEM 21!!! Nice examples too.
Also nice shots with the M8 and 50 Lux, love the colours! I have also ordered and first in line for the SEM 21. I have been sitting on the sidelines about a 21mm, but this will force me to cull some more lenses, which I have kept as a back up for now, and have the 21 for seascapes/landscapes. The SEM 21 seems to be very sharp, but I am still curious to see how well it paints and draws colours in landscapes. If it is anything like the 28 Cron, I will be very happy
Gregory, nice shots! Love your street shots as they have a lot of life and action to them. Sorry about the run in, but I feel with street photography, this is a situation maybe not be caused by your actions, but a culmination of actions by others.
Thanks Charles, since I don't have the Cron 28 I can not compare them directly. But the drawing and colors of the 18 SE, 24 Elmar and the 21 SE are very similiar, which is not unexpected since they share the same optical design.
Thanks LL, I like your third image best.
Ron, these images are all very nice.
Here are some bird and portrait images (first 4 M8 and last one M9, all shot with Lux 50 Asph at f/1.4):
Great pics everyone! luka, as allways- awesome shots! Charles, love the newest batch, very dreamy look.Ron, lovely shots. Ryan, where do you find time to shoot with a newborn in the house(?) - lovely tri-X shots - Tri-X is my current fav film!. Kyle - great shot!
Boris, Red Dot Camera of UK infomred me that they returned a batch of 21 SEM for stiff focussing ring (much like what you described). I would be obliged to see more sample shots from this 21 SEM and congrats on your new acquisitions!!!
Local pricing for the upgrade to M9-P in Singapore just came out - ouch! But i will probably upgrade, just a matter of time.
Seeing Charle's marvellous work with the 50, i used mine all weekend - some shots:
I´m planing to get a Leica M3 to see if I get used to rangefinders. Any M lens I get for it will eventually work for an M9 (or M10...)? Is the shooting experience comparable?

M3 is better than M9 because of the better focusing rangefinde from what I understand.
Lenses are interchangeable.
Compare M3 to M2 if you can, vallejo. The rangefinder is different.
Also M3 has frame lines for 50, 90 and 135, whilst M2 has 35, 50 and 90mm. If you are more a wide angle and normal shooter, the M2 makes more sense. The frame outside the 35mm frame lines on the M2 are approximately 28mm, so you can use that focal length also without an external viewfinder.
The "incident with the the police was a result of a complaint of someone who asked me to deleat a images and I refused. I filed the offical complaint today so we will see how that goes.
I will say what kind of sad is that it kind of ruined one of the best street photography day ever. Part of what love about street shooting is getting out and interacting with people. And in 99 % of the times it's all good. However when you photograph several hundred people in anyone day the odds are...OO.
In most cases I try de-escalte but this person's atitude was such that I knew they where going to push it. And that's fie. I support his right to call the police. What is B.S is there reponse and complete and utter ignorance of what the law is. ANd the rights that we have in Canda from unlawfull search, seizer arrest and detainment by the police.
At one point a told one cop , " better call you supervisor to let him educate in what the law is regarding street photogrpahy"
His reponse was do you want to get arrested? I replied no I just trying to plan my day.
After 20 minutes in his car on the cell phone, I was free to continue on my way.
Reminds me of some an old friend "loved" to tell the police.
"I am paying your salery"
Some new images I shot yesterday.
Just so we are clear, I am even more inspired to go a street shooting after this little incident.
"stand up for your rights or someday you won't have any"
As far as the Lecia M3, I often use my 35 1.4 Summilux on this camera and it works great. While it's true the view finder is somewhat cut off I have never found this to be a to much of a bother.
Check out the Rangefinder forum 35 mm Pre ASPH thread for plenty of sample images on Leica Film.
50 1.0 Noctilux on Leica M9
After talking this image this guy looked over at me and I said hello. I found out that he had just lost his father and was making funeral plans on cell over his break.
Very sad.
He was a nice guy and glad we got to talk for a little while.
Ms availability is quite scarce in Brazil, but I'll try to find some!
