Something a bit more subdued but I received a Leica M EV1 today. It's dark, dreary and raining with snow on the way. So for now, this will have to suffice.
My street portrait of the day is of this local 3rd generation bespoke suit maker.
I have been using my SL3 and APO-SL lenses to take advantage of AF because of my current eye issues. This one with the 50mm APO-SL prime wide open at f/2.0 as Peter Karbe insists this lens should be shot at. Hard to argue considering the IQ and rendering that results.
I loved visiting the old fish market in 90s when I worked in Tokyo for the US govt.... I used to take visitors there for the dawn sales and have sashimi for breakfast- those were good times, and few tourists then, it had not really been "discovered" yet= so the stall people were endlessly amused by my interest- and I shot film them- being pre digital .... good times

This is great glass captures great glass. A Leica M11P and apo 50 summicron capturing my new Astrophysics 110mm telescopes. Astrophysics makes some of the best optics one can buy, and their wait times are the stuff of legend. I only had to wait a couple of years for this scope- but they make a larger 155 mm scope and they are starting deliveries now after something like a 20 year wait for those on their list. Makes the wait times for good Leica glass seem short. It seemed appropriate to capture my new optics with one of my best optics as the apo summicron never seems to fail to amaze me. So tiny and yet so good. It would probably be the last lens I keep or would travel with if I only had one. I used the scope for the first time the prior night and captured a faint comet, and I was impressed with its rendering just using a mirrorless nikon for a test.
I had a great time back in 2013 and 2017 where I lived just across the street, and stroll around every morning checking out all the stores. The atmosphere is one of a kind, probably even in the whole of Japan. I bet without much tourists the vibe is even more traditional (even back in 2013 some stores still weren't ready to deal with tourists, though).
