Sonnar lenses may have what some regard as a flawed design, but I think they’re great (particularly with Zeiss colours and ‘pop’). In any event, I enjoy using them.

Having resisted for some time, I finally gave in an repurchased one of the two lenses I regret having sold, the CV 50mm Nokton f/1.2. This is a stitch of three overlapping vertical photos (hence the funny shape), simply using the B&W landscape preset but with highlights and whites reduced a bit and blacks and shadows boosted. Plus LR's denoise (probably not necessary). Arguably not playing to the lens' strengths, but one of the things I like about it is that it's good enough (for me, at least) to use for multiple purposes.

Wow Kent, the 2nd one (color) is very dramatic...We've seen a number of shots from near here I think...This is one of my favorites. (p.2613 #15 )

That is very much the sort of image that reignites my desire for a Monochrome or a Hasselblad 501. Or both. Please don’t post any more lovely images like that.
This is not the sort of photograph I would normally take with a Leica. But we came across this beastie when walking round our place yesterday, so I thought I might as well take a shot. I got as close as I could, but it’s still very cropped.

You saying that does not help me either :-)
I do miss my printine M10M that I sold last year. Consenquently, I have been considering giving B&W film another shot or pickig up the OG monochrome.

Hey Matt. Thanks for the kind words. This was a new location for me (MO side of Chain or Rocks). But, yeah there are a few iron work bridges in the area ... Merchant / MLK / Chain of Rocks / McKinley / etc. ... so, they can definitely look similar, particularly in the context of an abstract or noir approach. Thanks, again.

Sorry! I know the feeling, unfortunately.
B&W film, along with conversion from M11 images, is my solution for the time being. I’m actually quite pleased with how conversions from M11 colour images can be. Would a good photo taken with an M10M or M11M be discernably better? Possibly, but probably not by a huge amount. Perhaps more importantly, there is (very!) ample scope for me to improve what I can achieve with the M11 and my film cameras, so the rational approach is for me to concentrate on that. (Unfortunately, I’m not always entirely rational …. )

One material advantage of the Monochroms, as with B&W film, and as others here have often pointed out before now, is that they force one to ‘think’ B&W. I would add that there is no need to spend time tinkering with conversion. Just pick a coloured filter and be done with it. More photography, less computer.

Thank you, I will take a look at the link shared. I am very much enjoying the M11 platform, in my case the M11-D but yet to really take those BW conversions to higher levels. Film, as stated above, is still intriguing to me but have not jumped in.

I think the M10M and M11M produce different results….with the M10M having MORE of a medium format type look than the M11M. The M11M feels more like a M11 that does B&W moreso than a different rendering or look to the image. From what I have heard the Q2M and M10M sensors are the same and the Q2M should give that same look.
Forcing one to think in B&W is very real and I think a huge benefit of the monochrom cameras. When I’m out walking around with the M11M, I’m forcing myself to look for certain things, like sharp differences in contrast, etc. Of course you can get something similar shooting an M11 the same way, but without a doubt your mind takes over and sees opportunities you normally would not
