So, after two Months of being bed ridden recovering from surgery I was finally able to get out a hobble around Balboa Park for a couple of hours. It felt so good to be out in Sun and fresh air again. I took my D-Lux 8 with me because it is so small, lite, and easy to shoot. Still, I only managed to take about 5 frames.
This street portrait of an Irish Fiddler is my favorite from the outing. Nothing special, but I see it as a milestone nonetheless. The first image of the rest of my life. It feels good to be back. I missed you guys!

Even three years after my spinal fusion, just taking a camera with me makes getting out both provides both purpose and enjoyment. When I take a camera I tend to go farther and spend more time outside.
It's good to see you posting new images, we've missed them. Don't rush things and take care.

I agree that the D-Lux 8 produces images much better than the box specifications suggest. I just watched a YouTuber review it today and his conclusion was that it was the first Leica camera where he didn't like the images. He felt that they lacked depth and detail due to the lens and low resolution of the sensor. I am not experiencing that in my usage. You just need to shoot it within the capabilities of the sensor. Proper exposure, focus and compositions that require only minimal cropping and image quality is excellent.
This might be one of the coolest photos I've taken. Time and again the Q2 just asserts itself as a complete photographic package. The lens and sensor really shine in black and white, to the point that I find myself only wanting to shoot B&W. This is the monochrome HC jpeg setting, no real editing.
