Charles, I missed the B&W 28Cron shot earlier. Great shot and the B&W tones are gorgeous
KL, nicely framed shot with the person on the right!
Very nice Luka, #2 is my favorite, this composition is so well balanced.
Nice set Ryan, l#1 is my favorite. Looks like you're enjoying full frame with the 35Lux ASPH?
Julian, congrats on your daughter, she's sweet I'm sure you'll now have lots of chance to practice using your Leica gear! Love to see more of that 90 Summarit. ..and uggh, that is some serious Canon kit! A bit heavy though?
Elton, congrats on the M9. Nice set!

Spring is finally here! Weather was so nice that I ended up enjoying the scene and took very few pics today. Trying out the 50Lux ASPH with ND filter.
Julian - cograts on both the baby and the M9! Exciting times for you....and you got yourself a model that won't refuse you for about 6-8 months
Elton - great colors in those shots!
Joe - great PP on #2....really like that one. An ND is amust if you want to shoot wide open with the Lux in the daytime down here. I do find that on the 35 it causes quite a bit of vignetting though
Charles - great shots! #1 is great! I like the colors
LL - looks like that must be the 21? Great detail in the limited amount that you can see
So I took the M9 out for the first time for night cityscape shots....its tought. Without liveview it is almost impossible to get 100% accurate focusing withing shooting the scene 10 times.
Funny story....I had someone come up to me with their Nikon with Nikon strap & Nikon bag while I was taking shots #3 & #4 below. I had the M9 on my tripod and he said, 'Wow, how are you taking those shots without any light out?" Then he looked at the camera...."What are you doing, shooting film?" I said no and after asking more details I told him it was an M9. He looks at his wife and says, "Woah, big bucks for this camera!" So he starts yapping about this and that and why he loves his Nikon D90 so much...."So, does your lens have Vibration Reduction like this one does?" (He is rocking an 18-105 VR ) I respond that it doesn't....he seems perplexed. "What is the AF like on that thing, fast?" I tell him its all manual and I prefer to work that way. His response, "So you are telling me you don't have VR, its manual focus and you still pay twice as much as I did?"
Nice shots all!
Joe, great shots - what ND did you use? 6 stop?
Luka, wow - another great set!!
Charles - gorgeous shots!
Congratulations julian, she's a beauty!
Ryan, great night shots - hope the nikon guy just left you alone after a while!
Here are 3 pics which I hope to add to a series called People.Working
Cheers

Ryan
I really like some of those cemetary shots. It is easy to come away with cliché images but those are all unique. The fountain is great.
Charles
That beach shot is very nice with the contrast of the log
Joe
I did indeed grab another M8. When you spend time away from one, you kind of learn to appreciate it, even with some of its shortcomings. For the time being, I decided to keep the noctilux I picked up instead of jumping to the M9.
Everytime I click on this thread, it makes me smile. I love it! It has to be one of the best around.

Charles, got to love that 75Lux! Great portrait of the seamstress!
Lovinglife, nice silhouette shot!
Ryan, nice night scene set. Love the mood on that moon shot, think it would make a great B&W coonversion. Funny story too with that Nikon guy!
KL, another excellent set! Love that first portrait and the car wash shot! I was using a 0.6 (2 stop) ND filter. Think I need to get one with 4 or 6 stops. The 50Lux wide open is addictive

Some pics from Boston Marathon 2011 from today. The marathon runs through our town every year and these were taken at the footsteps of the legendary "Heartbreak Hill", the final incline 20 1/2 miles from the start, making it the toughest stretch on the course. Its also a local state holiday and the local town folks and kids all come out to cheer the runners on. Most people run for a cause and my heart goes out to the troops who walk the entire course in their uniform and fully loaded backpacks.
Joe, those are great, esp. the ones wide open with the ND filter. I just got my 4X ND filter in the mail yesterday for my noctilux.
Like you, I feel like I need something stronger to supplement it. This is new territory for me with this lens, however, I have had some practice with the 85L in the past. Leica vs 85L...Definitely leica. I remember using that setup in the studio one day and focusing first with the filter off the lens and then bringing it up to the lens to take the picture. At times, when the AF wanted to "hunt," I resorted to manual focus. Talk about a hassle.

can u expand on why u preferred the 85L to leica equivalents (and if so, which lenses).
thx!
Ryan, KL, Shaun, Joe and Luka, thank you guys
Ryan beautiful set of shots!! Shame the Nikon is more expensive and feature filled than the M9
KL, excellent shots. I love the shot of the night guard with the 50 Cron!!
Joe, superb set of shots! I love the 50 Lux with ND shots, but the grit and feel of the 28 Cron are amazing! Great PP too
Luka, excellent series of shots! I do like you how go out for a shoot, and use a number of lenses!! Great set!!
Joe, nice park shots with the 50 Lux. The Canon kit is heavy but, I do paid gigs every once in a while.
Charles, Still enjoying your shots from Thailand.
Ryan, Love those night shots from Savannah.
Single, Great shots from work. Makes me think you don't have much to do at work!
Joe, Your shots from the marathon are impressive! I really need to work on moving subjects!
Luka, Love the cemetery series!
EDIT: Btw, thanks for the well wishes of my daughter. One of the reasons why I bought an M9!
Thanks Lovinglife, Shaun, Luka, Charles & Julian, much appreciated
Luka, great set!! Wow, really hard to pick a favorite, all very nice and great play of lighting and comp. I also like how you positioned benches throughout the set. The first and last picture really makes an excellent intro and ending to your "symphony".
Charles, I think you started the 28Cron fever on this thread some time back

Can you shed some light on how u processed the b/w ?
Lovinglife, I use LR3 for my workflow and for B&W I use Nik Silver EFex Pro 2 (SEP2). I have custom preset saved and most adjustments are done within SEP2 and if required, I make the final contrast/clarity/brightness tweak in LR3. This way I don't have to make a new tiff file for the final adjustments all the time. I like most of the tools within SEP2 (a huge improvement over SEP1) and I use the zoning tool to fine tune the black levels, normally keeping the blacks to Zone 1 rather than Zone 0. Hope this explains a little.

Joe great set, and really impressive focusing skills
Thanks Luka It probably helped that I chose a hill where the runners are slowing down But really, I've been practicing on moving targets with my son. He won't stay still for pictures
I'm very happy with manual focusing on the M9. If the shots above were taken with a DSLR on AF, I would probably have been more concerned with tracking the AF points rather than focusing on subjects' expressions and timing. I think with a moving target, we just need to practice often and get a feel of the focus throw on the lenses. I really don't miss AF much these days.

KL - Great series. I really like #3 from the low angle
Joe - Great shots! Love the processing. The rendering on that 50 Lux ASPH is phenomenal.
Luka - Great cemetery shots! I really like #4 & #5. Funny, as soon as I saw #3 without looking at your lens data I knew it was the 18 Biogon with that star shape
Lovinglife - great shots! That is what I wanted to see....sort of. That GAS is already kicking in . Impressive holding that for 1 sec and getting that good of results
Luka - awesome awesome shots!
Lovinglife - around these parts, sending pics like those (that fuel GAS) is called sending " poison". V nice that lux is!
Joe - great marathon shots!
Joe and Julian - tsk tsk... Can't you see I am busy at (photographic )work? These are shots of the bookends of the day, so early early or late late. Some are when i m on leave running errands. The m9 gear is so compact that I have it with me 99% of the time. Have a busy schedule once the day starts.
Cheers
Kl (one leave today...gonna take some pics hopefully)
