I tend to not spend much time photographic the standard icons. I prefer to find subjects on a more personal level. However, while walking around the plaza surrounding the iconic Duomo in Florence I saw this man in a business suit riding a scooter at a fast pace across the plaza. I liked the juxtaposition of a modern Florence working man in the historic environment of the Duomo. Just as the Duome is a working Church serving parishioners, the city of Florence is still very much a working city where people live very contemporary lives. So I tried to capture that. Glad I did as I like the result much more that a static shot of this famous tourist attraction.
Some of the super modern glass building in London expose a great deal of their structure, mechanics, and materials. This tends to give them a Aldous Huxley Dystopian kind of feeling. This interior elevator in a shopping building along with the gesture of the occupant really emphasized this for me.
Cutting through an alley shortcut in London I found this interesting window. I debated whether to remove the trash in post but decided to leave it in the end as I feel that it adds a bit of grit to the image.
