Washington Gardner High School, Albion, MI. My parents graduated high school here in the late 50's, but by the time I was old enough to attend 72'-74' it was used as a jr high school. It's no longer used as a school and not sure what they are going to make of it. It's a cool old landmark that still looks great today.

I spent all day wandering around Seattle. Got a few decent shots. This guy was just sitting smoking a cig and had a great look. I asked if I could take his picture and he was delighted to have me do it.

THANKS Chris. It does take some pratice and time to get good at. And some days I seem to be better than others ha ha. So it's still a work in progress. Tabs on the lenses help me. It becomes a mussle memory kinda thing. Knowing where the tab should be when someone is at a certain distance for them to be sharp or where it should be when you need a scene to be sharp. I also shoot a lot at high ISO 1600-12.500 so I can be at say f/8 and 1/1000 of a second. Noting is faster

I've not really tried zone focusing much at all, it's difficult to change over from a 'focus the best you can' thinking...I'm such a damned perfectionist I need to just get over this kind of thinking.

Old school, tried and true.

I thought everyone is 'mandated to shoot wide open' on Leica lens or your not using the most positive aspects of these spendy lenses...said partly in jest and partly not so.

I’ve been outside walking a ton. It’s been SOOO bright and sunny and I’ve been taking wider shots with my 28mm so stopping down has been the way to go for me.

It feels a little like cheating and a little wrong not to be wide open on my ‘lux lenses and using my lowly 2.8 elmarit. It’s also felt a little freeing to not have to worry so much about nailing focus and solely attend to framing and composition.

Ha ha well Robert Frank, Bresson, Winogrand, Meyerowitz, Eggleston, etc all shot using zone focus/hyper focus most of the time as do I. I do focus sometimes too. Learning to use the entire frame and having the backgrounds work with whats going on in the foregound is far more difficult and in my opinion more interesting than just blowing out the background with bokeh.
