When my son was young, in the late Eighties, Nineties, and into the first decade of this century, I was not a photographer. Just the occasional snapshot, with the cheap disposable 35mm film cameras of that time, later supplemented my an inexpensive 35mm point-and-shoot. I knew next to nothing about the direction and qualities of light, or the “rules” of basic composition, until about 2010, when my son was already grown.
Thanks so much! I try to enjoy these moments as much as I can, even waking up at 4am. I take pictures probably way too often, but love capturing them because they grow up fast!
7A 50 1.1on film because it's been a while with this lens. And also this was the first time I was using the 'new' Fuji 200 aka Kodak Gold (which I've never used before).
So.. the 7A vignettes heavily wide open and stopped down to about f4. Really noticeable the closer you focus to infinity. Past that everything looks 'normal'.
Aperture ring feel is a bit gritty. Focus feel is 'ok I guess TM Grainydays'.. But waddya want for $200 used?
Leica M7, 7A 50 1.1, Fojak 200. From wide open, to a bit stopped down, to stopped down.
My final thought on this lens? I'd only use it wide open for specific character effects (dreamy portraiture etc) but not as a general purpose lens. If I'm stopping down, I'd use something much smaller and nicer in feel.
