This is the third Image from my time at the light post yesterday evening. I am a mobility limited at this time so I used a method that I have used at times with good result.
I looked for a "stage" to make my images on. In this case I was attracted to the lamp post, the sea wall, the people on the beach, the interesting clouds, the way the light was playing off the water, the reflections of the wet sidewalk, and the way the light was backlighting everything. So, I positioned myself to create a composition of this stage that I liked.
I set my ISO to A, My aperture to 8 to make sure I had the whole scene in focus, and my Shutter Speed to 1/500 sec to stop action on what a assumed would be people moving accross the stage. I then set Zone Focus so the whole scene to infinity would be in acceptable focus. I used the Exposure Compensation Dial to adjust for when the sun was moving in and out of the clouds.
Now all I had to do was watch the boardwalk for interesting charactors to come accross the "stage" The challenge being to get the timing right for the composition as some of them were moving a prety fast pace.
This setup proved to be reasonably productive. I managed to get a few images I like during the half hour or so I spend enjoying the Sun and fresh air.
This guy riding some sort of one wheeled motorized skate board zoomed past at a very fast pace, I was lucky to get him in the frame. I find that there is a delay in the shutter on the Leica M cameras that my other cameras didn't have. This makes timing fast moving subjects a bit of a learning experience. My 1/500 sec shutter speed was a bit slow for him, but frankly if I had gooten even more blur on him i think I would have liked the shot more.
