Jonathon when I was in college T-Max 400 had just recently come out. (Yeah I'm old ha ha) I had read an article in Darkroom Techniques magazine IIRC and they talked about how T-Max 400 in Rodinal 1:50 if processed correctly had a very similar film curve to Tri X 320 pro. So when I had zone system class I used 4X5 T-Max and Rodinal 1:50 for all my zone system tests thus all the work I created for that class. What I did find was that it had an almost straight line coming up in the toe, not the traditional curve (a lot of shadow detail) that most other films with the exception of Tri-X 320 pro. I always loved tha combo of T-Max 400 and Rodinal 50:1 even with 135 and 120 film

Allen, the lab that develops my B&W film uses T-Max developer so I don’t have a choice in that regard. I suspect I’d like T-Max developed in Rodinal even more but having spent up to 20 hours a week in a darkroom for nearly 20 years I really don’t feel like developing my own film again.

Ha ha. Yeah I could never let that part (processing my on) go. Rodinal is an acutance developer with no softeners so the silver halide cyrstals have sharp edges. Grainer than say a miiddle of the road developer like D 76.But a wonderful look and really sharp images. Of couse the grain not really an issue with 4X5 and also not so much with 120, I forgot to say that I was referring to Tri-X 320 pro developed with HC 110 and what Adams called dilution C IIRC.

m9 + noctilux f1. When I got the m9 sensor replaced near the very very end of leica still offering the fix I also sent in the noctilux f1 (it was front focusing abit). After both came back from service it is crazy spot on wide open.

I finally settled on TMax 400 because P3200 was too grainy for my taste. But the Mastin sim looks very appealing.

It's worth noting that P3200 is actually an ISO 1600 film pushed to 3200. So if you want fast film but not quite so grainy, shooting at 1600 (or 800) and developing accordingly tones the grain down a bit.

Very nice. Was the camera calibrated or the lens? And if lens, who did u send it to?

Thanks. The lens was not calibrated when I bought it. I send it to Leica NJ, so that could add 6-bit code to it and calibration comes for free. :-)

I 'think' the actual rating is ISO 1000. The "P" in the name stands for Push, so they are saying it can be pushed to 3200.
I shoot the ISO 3200 films at 1000, in my experience pushing them really does not play well with others...
