Some images from a walk-around with my Leica 50/1 Noct since it came back from RF calibration. It's spot on now!

Lovely images!

I calibrated RF for my M240 myself (bought here and it seems RF calibration was out during shipping). Took a bit but was able to fine-tune it

Thank you! That is me getting ready for the Instagram jump to allow 9:16 format vertical photos, which is already in testing with some users I'm impressed by the film grain mix that Mastin did with this sim, as this looks pretty close to actually P3200 – just needs to be a little more circular – film grain added in post still looks cubic to me when viewed at longer distances.

Very nice, indeed.

Been far too long, but wasn't the grain structure of "T" Max, engineered to be a bit more angular (Tetris-like) to allow the pieces to fit more puzzle like (vs. irregular, round-ish)? I didn't shoot / push it back in the day ... so, I've got no significant experience with it. That said, I find the sim to match up with my expectation / of "T" grain and it seems well suited to the Voigt, too.

Thanks, that explains why the TMax films always looked so different. Cool!

I was mainly referring to the content & composition but was also sufficiently impressed by the appearance of the grain to visit the Mastin Labs website. It took me a while to find the P3200 emulation because I wrongly assumed it would be in their B&W pack but that turned out to be Ilford films. I tested every ISO 400 and higher B&W emulsion I could lay my hands on when I decided to return to film photography, concluding that HP5 and Delta 3200 were both atrocious. I finally settled on TMax 400 because P3200 was too grainy for my taste. But the Mastin sim looks very appealing.

Totally agree. I like TMax 400 for the reason you describe but now I’m tempted to give P3200 another shot. Either that or spring for the Mastin pack.

It's been a long time since I shot 3200 speed film, but I think I remember using sepia toning to get results that I liked. The large grain seemed to get more interesting the longer it toned.

Re: content/composition, thank you. I guess I'm so used to talking tech here that I jumped straight to that
