Flew down there to MCAS Beaufort a couple of times from MCAS New River. IIRC a couple of hours in a CH 46. Never spent anytime in town though. Does look like a wonderful place.
There’s a Beaufort in South Carolina too, isn’t there? A couple of photographs in Robert Frank’s The Americans were taken there. 30 years ago my former wife and I spent six weeks driving around the South visiting various places where Walker Evans and Robert Frank had photographed. Believe it or not the Post Office in Sprott, Alabama that Evans photographed in 1936 was still standing.

Allen the MCAS Beaufort you speak of is in South Carolina. Sorry I didn't specify this was North Carolina..
