Luka....way to make us (without the 35 Lux) drool with that rendering. Actually, I feel like I'm the only one without one
Joe - close.....don't know if pigeons count though
Joshua, would love to see more from that lens

Great surf/beach shots! Amazing light
+1!
One with the ZM 18
a few min later with the 35 Cron
The lighting on the Cron looks horrible on my work computer - crap monitor....but looked fine (I thought) last night at home. Let me know if it looks off....may need to adjust tonight
Ryan - it looks like you have put that ZM 18mm to good use, Keep up the good work and enjoy the lens. I will be taking pictures of the mask carnival in Venice starting on the 26th for 4 days. I will be using the Nocti quite a bit there during that event.. I am currently in Holland where I took some shots of those tulips I will be able to post tons of images taken with the Nocti from that carnival; there will be no shortage of images from that lens before too long .
Charles - those are some great wave/beach shots great shots from Bali
Joe - I am glad you are enjoying the 35mm Summilux
denoir, dameon and Steve - great winterscape shots!

Charles, nice set, like the tones and rendering on #3
Ryan, nice tones and composition on #1 with the 35Cron.
Jeremy, nice "gearhead" set
Luka, the 2 ducks in B&W is splendid, well done! Benches are always another plus, I guess

Sorry no ducks but found some pigeons. 35Lux ASPH
I have a question, I understand that the new 35 1.2 from Voigtlander will not be able to use the rangefinder closer than 0.7 (?)m, but will it still focus to 0.5m? if so, could this be usefull not only on EVILS but also on a future leica M with live view? (heresy, I know)
Thanks Joe Nice shot!
Spicythai, nice shot. Birds and parks seem to be very popular at the moment
Ulrik, the 0.7m MFD is the mechanical limitation of the RF mechanism. The MFD of 0.5m, for example the ZM 25 can be fully utilized by EVILS now, and may be in the future with the M10....??
Wow...great work Luka! Great colors with those Zeiss lenses. I particularly like the last two
Ulrik - yes, you should be able to make full use of the .5 as that is a Leica camera limitation...not lens limitation. For example, the Zeiss Ikon can go down to the .5. I have a ZM 18 that goes down to .5 and I have shot at that distance although the rangefinder patch shows it being slightly out of focus. Live view I would assume would fix that
Speaking of Zeiss...here are some ZM 18 shots. This has to be one of the most perfectly corrected lenses I have used....on the M8. I know it has its problems on the M9. But the lack of distortion and the edge to edge sharpness are unreal on the M8
Nice shot spicythai! I'll be on lookout for you next time you're shooting at the Commons!
Luka, nice set with the Zeiss, the rendering on the 5th shot is very nice, almost Leica like.. just kiddin'
Ryan, nice set with the ZM18, like the #1 and #3 best. This lens seems to be equally good on both the M8 and M9. From the pictures on this thread, to me this lens seems to have more "character" than the ZM25.
Luka, excellent shots! I think I now prefer the Leica rendering I will be an outcast in the FM forums!
Ryan, very nice shots! Love the rendering of ZM 18, almost better than the ZM 25. Interesting!
Joe, nice shot! Excellent tonality and colour
Ryan, very nice shots with the ZM18. I'm surprised that you actually managed to get some OOF areas with it in the first two shots - that must have been at MFD.
Charles, the ZM18 rendering is very similar to the ZM25 (and closely related to the one of the ZE21). The ZE21 is still the UWA king, but the ZM18 and 25 are not far behind.
As for Leica vs Zeiss, I'm pretty much convinced by now that there is no such thing as "Leica rendering". The variation per lens seems to be much greater than any common style for the brand. Even different versions of the same lens show really great differences (like 50 ASPH and pre-ASPH). There seems to be a vague link between the color rendering of the various Leica lenses but not much beyond that. If I look shots from my ZM35 and ZE85, both stopped down, there is no denying that they are related - same colors, same micro contrast etc If I on the other hand compare my 35 Lux and my 75 Cron really I can't see any similarities between them. The 35 Lux has a very distinct 'personality' which is far from flawless. The 75 Cron is an über-corrected eunuch with any trace of uniqueness carefully bred out of it. For the most part that seems to be the current Leica design policy - optical perfection over interesting rendering style.
However, consistent with their inconsistency, the 75 Cron is also the only lens that they managed to fully do that. For instance the 90 APO ASPH seems to retain some sort of personality as does the 50 Lux ASPH.
Unlike Zeiss, Leica, rendering style seems to be determined per lens rather than having a general unifying theme.
Luka, Charles very nice. Luka, really like the 'Ron' shot
Charles - great mood
Luka I would agree for the most part with your Leica vs. Zeiss except the Zeiss seem to be a little 'harsher' when used on people. The portraits that Charles has shown and what I have taken with the Cron seem to have a totally different feel than what I have done in the past with ZM or ZF lenses. Maybe it is just those lenses....but that is where I see the difference. But I agree for the most part that every lens design displays its own unique character and it is hard to say all Leica look the same and all Zeiss look the same.
