JEEEZE I thought it was cold here. Seems like that time you mentioned (45 minutes) is actually a bit excessive to me. The original MM is still rock'n.
I hadn't been shooting much in the past couple of months and had the itch.
Yesterday the M9M was my only Monochrom that had more than 25% left on the battery. Ironically the M9M showed 100% charge but when I took a single shot in the backyard it went from 100% down to replace battery. I grabbed my backup battery which showed 75% and it lasted for 1/2 hour. After shooting yesterday I charged all my batteries for all my Monochrom's and today opted to keep shooting the M9M paired with my R5 but using a different lens on each. After coming in from the cold the battery shows 100% again so the cold definitely is impacting the battery.
The funny thing I didn't feel the cold until the battery indicated it needed replacing.

I sold my 500 C/Ms a long time ago and regret not keeping one.
When I used a 500C/M back in the day it became my favourite camera of all time. I bought a 503CX and some lenses at the beginning of 2021 in an attempt to relive the ‘Blad experience. Big mistake. The magic was no longer there.

This is what spurred me to get the M240 in February 2014. I was out shooting with the M9 over the period of a few days in conditions maybe -10˚C plus windchill, a few kms waking distance in the woods from my house, and the camera would shut down after one shot. I'd swap out the battery and it would get a few, then do the same thing. I couldn't recall it behaving that way in previous winters, so figured the batteries were probably getting old (though some were perhaps only a couple years old), or the camera was becoming unreliable. The M240 with its huge battery has been solid in the cold.
BTW, there used to be an app called M9info that would show shutter actuation count and other details embedded in an image's EXIF. The M9 also records the ambient temperature and includes it in the EXIF. Kind of a neat little detail. But I do think that temperature is not accurate for actual air temperature. It's the camera's internal temperature which can be influenced by heat from electronic activity.
Not sure if that app works with the MM though, or if the app is still available. I did see it come up in a search just now at a download site, but the website for its author is now 404.

This was the first time any of my Monochrom's experienced the cold impacting the battery. Like yourself 2 years ago it was fine for over an hour of shooting.
Mind you I don't use the M9M that often as I usually reach for the M10M and the M246 with it's bigger battery outlasts both as I rarely ever switched the battery when out shooting with it. It will be interesting to see how the battery performs on the M11 though I look forward to the M11M.
