Phil, beautiful portrait! Sharp yet gentle on portraits. I find if I view the files with the 90 Cron AA at 100% there is incredible detail, and subtly that is not evident with web size images. Carsten is correct, the recorded f stop is a calculated value and can vary quite considerably.
Thanks Charles, I was beginning to think my lens aperture ring was broken
Luka, love your sense of humor and the insights to your logical though process

Ansel is remembered not only as a great photographer and teacher but most importantly a great contributor to the wilderness preservation of some of the great parks here in America. The activities that he and the Sierra Club were involved in helped to move many developments (power plant, etc) away from Yosemite and other parks so we can still go out there and take wonderful pictures and enjoy the scenes. Back in the 1930s, he and the Sierra Club lobbied the government for the creation of a national park in Sierra Nevada by publishing a book with his photographs of the area (The John Muir trail). So hoping that I did not misread Luka's statement, to me, Ansel's work is still unique not only in the pictorial/art sense but as a pioneer in the preservation of wildlife and nature.
I better post a picture and shut up. M9 90 Tele-E from today.
Joe
Thanks Charles, I had the 50Cron on the M9 when I spotted these ducks and quickly switched to the 90 Tele-E, but somehow I still had the 50mm frame lines in my mind when I took this picture, only realized when I got home since I don't normally look at the LCD after taking shots, hence the crop.
Joe and Charles, thank you. :-) Charles, nice to run into you elsewhere too. It seems to be a bit of a small world, even if a few continents seperate us.
It's funny, all I did was get my camera out for 10 minutes before buying a few groceries tonight. This center has some interesting facets though. I Was going to shoot this afternoon, but without a sign of a cloud, lighting was harsh, to harsh.
Anybody like inverse triangles? :-) When I do black and white, I do black and white, there is no inbetween, lol.
So, I just received my new M9 and Zeiss 35mm Biogon. I feel like a kid on Christmas morning. Not sure if I'll ever take my Canon gear out again.
Well, I've been watching this thread for quite some time and thought I might actually post something. I only had time for a quick walk with my wife before the Super Bowl began, but I found this dog, patiently waiting for his owner on our way home.
Speaking of themeless projects, I started posting a photo a day at the beginning of the year. So far every shot has been with the M9, but that's not a rule I'm holding myself to -- it's just the camera that motivates me to get out and shoot.
