Adam, that's brutal... but expected. How old is your lens and why are the screws loose already? I'm finding some Leica lenses hold up better over time than others, before needing tightening. I suppose frequency of use is also a factor.
If I can get Leica to fix the infinity focus problem with my 50 Lux ASPH after the most recent servicing (still haven't heard back from them about it), I will see how long the lens holds with the new focusing mount. If it's not long, then I may move on to something else, and the obvious move up (for overall technical capability) is the 50AA. But if it too is going to loosen up quickly, then maybe there's no point... Here's hoping for a ZM50 update to ZM35/1.4 level of performance.... even if rendering may not be Leica-like.
Gary - no color shift, no coding used. I tried the usual 11134 21/2.8 non-ASPH and it was too strong, resulting in cyan color shift. Maybe one of the other codes is OK, but I see no need for any. This is the most noticeable improvement over the previous version. The other appears to be better distortion correction. Otherwise, based on a quick comparison shoot that did not jump through all the hoops, I've found results very similar for colour, contrast, CA and edge sharpness. When RF focused, the lens seems to be excellent in the central 2/3, with sharpness degrading somewhat in the outer zone. It might be a matter of instead focusing for the edges and seeing if the center will be sharp enough, but I haven't experimented with this yet. Central performance tops out by f/8 whereas edges improve at f/11, but at the cost of slight central diffraction degradation.

So far my 21 SEM and Lux are holding up the best in my Leica stable. And I do use them fairly frequently, but not as much as the 50 Lux ASPH and 28 Cron.
Allen - ~2 months is standard lens service turnaround with NJ. If you convince them of your professional need for the equipment, they will try to expedite it... within a month.
The 28 Cron is now starting to loosen up a touch, and while I tightened all visible screws on it (that could be tightened), it didn't seem to fully address the matter. So I'm guessing eventually it will need service. Good to know you (Charlie and Gary) had good results with DAG. I also stopped using the Leica hood for it, because I was always handling the lens by the hood. Instead I'm using a modded 3rd party vented screw on hood that lets me better grab the body of the lens when changing lenses.
M240, 50 Lux ASPH x3, 28 Cron (self portrait in the spirit of Joakim ) Yes, I'm shooting with the EVF, which I tend to do now for these kinds of building detail shots. It's also great for shooting up without having to crane my neck.
I will definitely play that card next time. I bought a 35 2.8 biogon to hold me over.

Exactly the same thing here. Canon Canada CPS is 4 days, free shipping and immediate loaners. Granted, I also need the DSLRs for sports/action work.
Unfortunately with Leica, as I've said before, the situation is very much like it used to be with Canon (Canada) where you'd never know if you'd get it repaired correctly the first time, how long it would take or whether they'd have any loaners. So there was a need to maintain redundancy in the kit. As with your decision on the ZM, I've kept all my ZM glass, but it doesn't cover everything. And cameras are more problematic. My M9 definitely appears to have the sensor corrosion problem. I'm hoping I can trade it against an M or M-P, depending on what Leica offers, it may sufficiently dull the sting of adding a second M 240 body to the kit for equal redundancy.

Robert, the biker set is superb, like all of them but #2 is my fav.
Luckily, none of my ZM lenses have ever needed tightening. Granted, I've sent 2 of them back to Oberkochen for calibration when they were brand new, and the 85 Sonnar as well, though that one was second hand. The turn over at Oberkochen was 7-10 days max.
Edward - so far my ZMs have been good too. I'm still not entirely sure about the 50 Planar for far distance work at wider apertures, but that's fine. I see you're using your 'friends/portraits' lens (Sonnar) for streets, instead of the Planar.

Indeed Ron, I have been using the sonnar a lot recently. I still prefer the rendering of the planar though, but I'm a bit intrigued by the sonnar results. It's softer on detail but higher in contrast. I'm trying to explore all the capabilities of this lens.

One more with the 90AA (at f2.8). To keep ISO below 800, I shot at 1/25 s. On the other hand, with my Df, I do not care about ISO
Looks like my monitor colors are off. I need to find a way to calibrate it.
I didn't realize this thread is soon 5 years old, I actually thought it was a little older. I just checked my LR catalog and my first set of images from the M9 are from August 21st the same year so my M9 is also turning 5 at the ned of the summer.
Two bicycle shoots from today with the Monochrom-2 and 50 Noctilux.
They should be liable for depreciation!
