Ron, You captured some really nice compositions at the Armenian genocide exhibition. Love the rendering of the 28 cron. The concert hall b/w shot is also superbly framed, as is the 2nd color shot.

Werner, the 2nd shot is very nice.

Ryan, a strong set as usual. My favorite is no. 3.

Joakim, I normally like street rainy shots and your photo is no exception. Excellent timing.

Adam, unusual indeed, but very effective!

Joshua, the 1st shot is very good.

Charlie, nice work as usual

Robert, sorry my bad. The reason I asked is because the ZM 28 seems to have a great rendering and high contrast but not such a good MTF graphs. So I wanted to hear from someone with 1st hand experience. The C/Y is a fantastic small lens. It was my first Contax lens that I bought in 1993. Not so good in the corners but great 3D and colors.

It might depend on your lens/adapter combination perhaps, but this is just the menu option 'Live View Setting Effect' On/Off - toggle it to focus wide open or stopped down. I prefer stopped down but in difficult conditions it would allow you to achieve MF more easily.

I don't disagree the A7x series is harder to use/far less enjoyable. I only use Auto ISO in 'M' with aperture/shutter speed set to taste. I wouldn't trust Sony to choose my Shutter speed!! But then I don't use the camera so much in difficult light unless on a tripod/in landscape photography mode.

Love everyone's shots, the surreal colour/mono blend (and fierce gazes/normal people) of the Armenian Memorial and the baking shots especially.

A few vertical views with M9/21 SEM - Leica gives me neckache!

Adam, that preset actually looks kind of interesting.

Re-reading your LA advice from the PM, I think you were right on. Things are definitely really spread out and I'd probably need the better part of a week to get around to see most of what is available in the area. Since I only had 6-8 hours to look around (which would probably allow most normal tourists to hit quite a few destinations), I decided to buck your advice, and didn't rent a car. Instead I took the Flyaway bus from LAX to Union Station and just walked from there (the

Sounds like you had a good 7 hours
"but it would always end up being an internal debate about whether I should stop someplace that seems interesting, or keep driving for something better." - This always happens to me, no matter where I go. BTW, if you know where you're going, and the bus is willing to take you there (or train), then it isn't a bad way to get around. Especially the train, during traffic hours that thing is laughing as it's flying by.

Also, it's the red dot.. It gave you away. Time to get a M-P, or invest in same black tape

Thank you guys!

Adam - the camera was taped up! The guy I shoot weddings with has told me I have the mannerisms of a photojournalist when shooting with him. I don't know, maybe some of that comes across while I'm wandering the streets? Doesn't really matter how much I tape it up, etc., since I'm not trying to hide the camera or my intentions. I just found it funny that I wasn't more than a minute on the 'streets' of LA and I was already called out.

Edward - thanks. I've briefly used the ZM28 and believe it's pretty faithful to the MTF. I would't count on it for brick wall shots or anything technical like that until it's well stopped down. It's probably a better reportage/street type lens where you're photographing 3D things rather than flat/planar scenes.

I tape my M240 cameras in certain S.E.A. countries.. As they know the brand, and know the worth.. And what happens is, someone will always come up to me and call me a rich man and start asking me about my camera. And even if they don't have bad intentions, you never know who's listening..

Not the reason I ended up buying M-P cameras... But I do like the omission of the red dot. Just wish I could have gotten them not engraved, as that also bothers me.

One of the first things I did was tape up that red dot . Mind you, I have removed the cover from the back now (so I have a screen). Mind you, I have great insurance, so if It did get stolen, the only loss would be my photos (if I didn't back them up on the go).

Ron - Really enjoy your latest pics. What type of color treatement have you applied? I really like it for the buildings you have captured.

Amazing photography here guys, all so well done is so inspiring! I thought I'd simply tell you all how much I enjoy this thread, it's one of my fav. forums to visit!

I thought I'd be getting an M camera this summer, but we needed a new roof, and the house needs tuckpointing (new mortar b/w all the bricks) which is also expensive. Damn life's unexpected events!

Thank you for the info about the 28 biogon, Ron. Beautiful tones in the last set.

Coogee, great work, very well worth the neckache

Werner, great composition and unusual angle. You have a keen eye for geometric forms.

Gary, love the turquoise tones.

Just wanted to share this little project with you guys. I'm going to replace the leather on this MP with shargreen. It's extremely tough, grippy and waterproof so it should be a great covering. There are some technical challenges working with it but I've got some ideas and hopefully it will turn out well. As you can see it looks somewhat similar to the old school vulcanite and you can see it compared to Leicas modern covering. It's way more grippy and has a beautiful natural sheen to it. Fingers crossed

Thanks again, everyone!

Rocky, that should be a good looking re-skin
joanlvh - no worries. I think this is pretty much the FM general Leica image thread anyway.
Joakim - the clouds are definitely very dramatic!
Gary - like Edward, I love the turquoise tones. As for my B&W images of WDCH, the tint is simply LR split toning, with only the shadow values getting some colour. I think the colour picker was in the 235-240 range. Intensity was to taste.
Adam - one of the first things I did when I got my M9 back in 2010 was to tape up the front. Not too long after my GF said I should remove the tape, at least whenever I was in Munich, to show off that it's a Leica. She thought it didn't look good with the tape, which was probably true.

The local university's greenhouse, part of the biology department, had an Amorphophallus titanum in bloom this week. The plant is also known as titan arum and/or corpse flower because it smells like rotting meat (at least the first day of the bloom). Not that I'm a big plant/flower enthusiast, but figured I might as well go see it since they're fairly rare and bloom very infrequently. Unfortunately I heard about it a bit too late and missed the best part of the bloom by a couple days. The spathe (big leaf wrapped around the plant that looks like a petal) was no longer open and a large chunk of the lower part of the plant had been cut away to collect pollen (and give visitors a view of the male and female flowers inside).

They have three of these plants. One bloomed in January, so it likely won't again for at least 2-3 years, but possibly as long as 7+ years.

Anyway, a few shots in the greenhouse of the plant with visitors...

I have tons of ray skins laying around. Depending on how the ray was tanned, they can be super grippy. Though really hard to cut cleanly without a machine. I have some neat ray skin that's been sanded down and polished flat. Still has the look of the skin, but is smooth and thin (more ideal for skinning a camera I suspect, but the polished rays are a bit to small for an M-P, though truth be told I never really checked this out).

Should be awesome, can't wait to see the finished product!!

Ron - My wife actually encouraged me to buy the M-P cameras because she doesn't like the tape on the red dot, but vacationing with me, sees the tape as a necessary evil. In fact, she always packs the black tape for me when we go on holidays. I suspect it's because she doesn't like being bothered while we're walking around.

On that note, although she loves the look of the Chrom M cameras, when I bought one, she hated the attention it got.. Drove us both nuts having to chat with random people every 10 minutes... I guess I just have a very approachable face/body language. Honestly, I don't mind it so much if it's a "cool camera" but when you're at a checkout line and there are 20 people behind you, and the checkout guy/gal starts chatting you up about your camera and the people in line behind you are getting increasingly annoyed... It's bad.

Anyway, didn't notice your greenhouse photos. Very nice clean colors, your usuals chrisp work! And neat to see both onlookers and spectacle in one shot.

Edward - Your images always make me miss BKK.. I think I'm due for a mini-vacation
Also the Q113, who knows what's going on with that... In a few days we'll know for sure, but mirrorlessrumors seems to think they have pictures and specs.. It's cool looking, I'll give it that. IF ITS REAL! The lens should be smaller though, and oddly enough it looks detachable if you look at the base, with manual focus and ringed aperture. Hopefully a shutter dial on the top, and not some nonsense program modes.
Though with it's claimed ISO sensitivity, I'm afraid it's a Sony sensor
And I still hold firm, unless it's reasonably cheap, I think you're better off investing in lenses (assuming you already have an M camera).

Also want to add I'm a bit skeptical that Leica would call a lens a Summilux but make it a 1.7, unless it weren't a full frame lens.

Thank you Adam!

I think the Q 117 is real. It's not really a rumor but rather a "leak". I'm very interested in this camera not as a future purchase but as an indication to the direction Leica is going. The new processor, new EVF (built in), unusual high ISO (for Leica), maybe new sensor? Whatever it is I'm sure the next M due at the end of the year will also feature such advances. Let's see.
