Long time no post.. Sorry, just haven't been in the mood to post personal work (traveling a lot + work). I've been lurking and I love what everyone else is posting.

Here are a few from a shoot I did for a client. You might recognise my wife, I was able to use her as the model which saved me $$ from having to hire an agency represented gal (also probably the only reason I'm posting this, because I only half consider it work):

So I drove 'back home' Friday as our family dog is being put down, Bryn. I think he was 14 which means the day I recall picking him up as some flee ridden, soft-nosed puppy... I was only 11 years old myself... damn! Time flies. I think we all know how family pets become an integral part of the family as the years pass, they're always there (for better or worse!) and you have a real relationship with them. The real ones where you see all the warts and just love them for who they are.

And as the time rolls on it can often be the little quirks that supposedly annoy us which we come to find most charming, in a way? I hope you know what I mean. No running hand-in-hand towards the sunset, but the intrinsic details of what your own reality is made up of.

I took these a few these a few months back and immediately put them in a frame. Whenever I went home to see family, this sort of scenario would make me laugh... he would run around outside, roll in mud, like something possessed, and then he would do this familiar circuit around the large kitchen table, centre of the room. And it was as much about how angry it would repeatedly make our mum that made it so funny... So I came back to see people early 1 day and I was the only 1 there, this is what I saw. Bryn eating something odd looking off the floor and a nest of muddy footprints surrounding him and scattered around the tiles. It is what it is!

He was put down around 30 minutes ago. RIP!

So sorry to hear that. I love our dog and it would indeed be painful to loose her. I have lost dogs in the past and they are part of the family. He certainly lived a long life for a big dog.

I;m sorry for your loss Richard. I am and have always been a dog owner (I currently have 4). It's always so hard to have a long time companion leave. I had a retriever for 18 years. That was a hard one. Glad you have these lovely images to remember by.

Richard, sorry for your loss. Nice images for your both posts.
Allen, superb sets.
Adam, stunning images. I love them all. 2nd one will be even better if the flower didn't block your wife's eye. (I feel, maybe not)

I know very much how you feel, Richard. I had to put this one down in early January:

after 13 years of living with her everyday. Just a month or so before we lost her:

I rarely cry, but putting this dog down.....

now, don't get me started on what a pain it is to photograph black dogs

Richard sorry to hear the news about Bryn. It is sad when a family member (Dogs are family not pets) goes to the great beyond. One day you will be reunited and Bryn will show you a whole new world to explore.

It has been a couple of years since my photography assistant (see avatar) departed and I know my ability to see scenes is in many thanks to her always looking and exploring. I learned to see through her eyes.
