Hi guys! Very nice work from everyone here! Always keeps me inspired. I won't be posting any photos in the next 2 weeks because I'm back home for Easter, but I will be spamming the thread with a lot of photos as soon as I'm back Happy Easter to all!
I'm envious, beautiful shots folks. I can only dream about shooting but not very long must stay focus on Audio and a little video yet to come til the end of June. School can drag one away from the beauty of rangefinder photography. Nice to have a moment to pop in and see a few shots to remind me how much I miss shooting. Happy Easter.
Back in January I would have looked at this shot and thought nice image of the sound engineer. Since I started taking courses in Audio I look at your shot and not only see him but I also see the mixing board in behind the sound engineer and see the story that is playing out behind him. I like the positioning you have of him and the look towards the camera but leaving plenty of real estate to show the mixing board in the background. You nailed it for me this morning with a bullet to the top of the charts.
Gary - Lovely sunburst and silhouette of the mountain. Looks great in black and white. Though today I would guess their would be a little more of the white stuff. Also a nice contrast where I see calmness and serenity of an outdoor scene. Restfulness and relaxing in place, yet I can see the slight turbulence of the waves on the lake.
Werner - Love the sepia toning the shares , patterns and lines. A sense of wonder comes over me thinking somewhere up there is a person of interest unseen walking upward to the top.
Rene- Love the 1st one and how you have positioned the walker to the extreme far left and that he isn’t looking at the camera but rather off frame, I get a sense of wonderment as to what he is observing. The 2nd shot is a nice addition as it fits into where he is headed a closure type scene where it is daytime and although looks daunting (due to black and white) but not intimidating as we can see the patterns of vertical lines in the shadows. Makes me wonder how the same scene would change if it was a nighttime shot.
Seeing all these shots this morning I can see stories in my own mind’s eye playing out with some beautiful music accompanying the scenes from peacefulness in Gary’s shot to suspenseful music in Werner and Rene’s and to top it all off Recordi’s shot showing the final mixing being done to the movie soundtrack. The only thing missing is a photographer but then again thats where you all fit in this morning. Your shots made my day
Back to reality and time to do some studying as I prepare for the upcoming start of the next batch of courses(Sound Synthesis, Video Lighting, Mixing and Mastering, Studio Recording, Business of Digital Audio Production). Being a student gotta run, speaking of running need to fit in my training this morning for my 10K race in the Badlands of Dinosaur Provincial Park in 27 days. Guess I'll start my day off with some running.
Thanks again for the motivational images, even though it motivates me for Sound and Video.
Vern, when did you get an M240? Or have you been out hiking with Gary?
Charlie - is it that time of year already? Seems like you've had a mild winter.
Werner - hope you had a good Easter weekend too. I like the geometry of the Easter Bunny photo. The hotel is great too. It's good to look up every now and then!
René - really like the second one of the first set on this page.
recordproduction - lovely tonality. It looks really natural. Hope you get the 50 Lux ASPH sorted out.

No worries about whether or not it's possible to meet. I just thought I'd throw it out there in case anyone had the time. I'll be there between the 13th-15th and so far not exactly sure what I will do, other than spend some of the time with relatives and catching up with a friend. I'm sure I'll be back again. Given it's only two full day and I fly back the afternoon of the 15th, there maybe isn't all that much time.
A technical question for the group. I believe this came up with Adam once, and maybe others, but don't recall the solution. I've noticed lately with the M240 that with some images, when they're zoomed in a fair amount on the camera's display, that suddenly a pink/magenta 'wash' appears over random images. It will happen to one, but not the next one in the sequence. The weird thing, looking at it again just now, and I can go back to a 'problem' image and within 15 seconds after reviewing other images, that image no longer has the pink/magenta wash/cast.
I downloaded the images to determine if there is any file corruption, etc..., but they process out OK. FWIW, I shoot compressed DNG only.
