Edward - no need for apologies. It's always great to see your images, no matter the lens used.  Have you changed your opinion about the 50 Sonnar?
Michael - thanks for the tripod suggestions. Unfortunately the Gitzo rebates are US mail in, not instant rebates, which I much prefer. I agree about buy right the first time. That said, I hardly use a tripod, so am looking for some cost savings.
Abram - If you use the entire viewfinder, outside the 28mm frame lines, you'll get ~24mm, so just keep pertinent content visible, and you'll be fine with 21mm. Or, if it's just outside the frame, it should still be in the image. It takes a bit of trial and error and practice, but after a while, you can get a feel for a scene just by looking at it and knowing how much the lens will cover. I also agree with Mitch's approach for near distance street. Raising a camera to your eye seems to act as a kind of 'peripheral vision' trigger for those nearby that something is about to happen, and will cause a change in expression or shift their attention away from what you originally saw and intended to photograph them doing.
Mitch - great examples and thanks for sharing them again (at least some seem familiar). Interesting points about the 50 Cron DR/Rigid. When I tried it, I think I primarily shot it wide open, which in hindsight biased my opinions about it by not exploring its full capabilities/potential. But I really like it wide open too, hence why I keep it on my informal 'to get' list. If I could find a beater copy with decent glass for a song...
Chris - I suspect it will be somewhat personal preferences, but IIRC Joe, who hasn't posted much here recently, found the M240 files converted to B&W well enough to sell his MM... I think if you can get only one camera, it would be the M240 for the option to do colour and B&W and the benefit of the various feature refinements.
Adam - I'd have done the drive... a chance to see some landscape, no matter how boring/repetitive it might be, or the traffic. You never know... you might see some new potential bridal/engagement shoot locations. Drove 1/101 from SF to LA once and enjoyed it. Might be different if it's a daily thing.
Good point about the trade in value vs. selling my M9 and buying an M240 demo... however, my M9 is a 'beater' with over 140K on it that I doubt I can get any kind of premium for. It would probably be a near wash, so just easier to trade directly with Leica, assuming the few spots on the sensor actually are the beginnings of corrosion.
Regarding the water tank art installation at Toronto Pearson: Earthbound... Unbound, 2003, by Ingo Maurer. So, over ten years old, but not sure when it was installed. It's on the Terminal 1 departure level between the domestic and international security checkpoints, before you pass through them. I should spend a day at the airport just wandering around taking photos....
