Enjoy your studio setup, its a nice to have a studo if you have the space. Be careful with lighting gear though, some of those studio "toys" are more expensive than Leica lenses I use PCB Einsteins, great value and really nice output for the price.
Printing is fun and challenging, what size of printer are you considering? The Epson 3880 and 4900 are very nice but I guess when you say big, you are looking at the 7900 or 9900? Lots of maintenance on the larger floor standing ones, you might want to consider an extended warranty as those clogged heads are costly to replace. I got some 24X36 prints using D810. They are better than I thought So I can get some my own works i guess.
Printer I am thinking is 3880 type, 17" wide max. Big one I better off online. Thanks for advices.

Usually it's Elk, who are very often in my own yard, tearing up my bird feeders etc. I often have to wave shirts at them to shoo away (they will chase me otherwise), in this case the little moose came right past my first shooting position passing right next to me and took off down the side walk towards the center of town. Back a while ago I think there was some discussion about how much of a difference there is between M240 converted to B&W files vs. the MM. Vs. the M9 there is certainly an advantage in favor of the MM, but at least concerning sharpness/resolution, it's not as decisive vs. the M240. That said, I think the MM still has a niche advantage of greater per pixel sharpness and the pliability of the files is pretty amazing. I don't think you can dig as deep into M240 files, but conversely, you don't have to protect the highlights as much with it, thus negating some of the need to underexpose M9/MM files a fair amount.

I would say one could get close but never the same. No matter what camera one uses Leica M240,MM, Canon, Sony, Panasonic, Fuji,... there is ways in PP to simulate what you get in another camera but it is not exactly what is captured natively in another camera. Not saying M240 converted to B&W aren't just as good, or astechically pleasing its just PP is not a replacement for the real thing. Conversely if someone was going to go to the nth degree and colourize an MM image they won't get a true M240 image even if they look the same after PP.

Chris - Someone like Joe88 would be better able to answer that question because he has experience with both cameras and that software. My *feeling* is that B&W converted M240 files are somewhere between M9 B&W converted and the MM. One of the big differences, to my eyes, between M9 converted files and the MM is the quality of the grain/noise. The M9 files are not as fine grained because the debayering/color interpolation required to first create an RGB image results in some splotchiness compared to the MM. The higher pixel count of the M240 and its better chroma noise characteristics seems to minimize this somewhat. IMO, the M240 is a good choice for a 'casual' B&W shooter who wants an all-purpose camera. The MM is pretty amazing for what it does and I do believe there is a little something extra to its files that is difficult to explain or quantify, perhaps along similar lines to the differences between Leica lens and those from other brands. If you haven't already, you should hunt down some MM DNGs and try them for yourself. They're amazingly pliable.
One thing if the rumoured new Monochrom is true with the switch to a CMOS sensor how the B&W images between the MM, converted M240 and new MM compare and if the next MM will also have video. Of course at this point it is just Fleetwod Mac and Rumours.

Robert. I agree with your thoughts posted just before mine.
My concern with an M240 MM is how it will handle the shadow banding of the current sensor (assuming it isn't otherwise tweaked for this). It's an aspect of the M240 I feel could be problematic. With a non-Bayer sensor, there isn't any kind of highlight headroom, as you know, meaning highlight protection and digging into shadows is necessary. But if CMOS maintains its dynamic range advantage over CCD when monochrome converted, it will likely offset this problem. I'd guess that an M240 MM will have a similar advantage over the M240 that the MM has over the M9. If the M240 replacement comes in at 30+MP with improved noise handling, then it will likely again close that gap.
It will be interesting to see Leica's sensor path philosophy with the M240 replacement. How many will want more MP, and how many won't? I currently don't really feel a need for more than 24... though my brief experience with the a7R showed that its sensor can extract 'that much more' detail out of many Leica lenses. Current M lenses should be able to keep pace with considerably higher resolution sensors.
As for the ZM35/1.4... I'm definitely getting one. Don't know when it will arrive, but was informed deliveries were delayed until this month.
