Here's a few more shots from my visit to the local 'pioneer' village. Thanks to Ron for suggesting the M240 Shadows Lightroom plugin...works great. The first is a repost.

Hi Phil,
Thats the voigtlander 75/2.5 heliar, very tiny also. Sean Reid says it's sharp as the latest Leicas. Great pocket lens.

300 for the Heliar, 3000 for the Lux, that's the way it goes in M world

Oh the CV is LTM so you use the thin adapter with 75 lines. Works perfect.

Nichols or anyone else please tell me your thoughts on the Elmarit 28/2.8 ASPH? I am considering buying a 28mm in the near future, the 28 cron is a bit to much for my blood and I hardly use this focal, but when I do, I wish I had it if you know what I mean

Hello

The Elmarit 28/2.8 ASPH is a fantastic little lens and I would strongly recommend it if you are after a very sharp, contrasty and distortion free lens. The corners are very sharp after f4 and the lens is very usable even wide open.

It does not have the rendering of 28 cron but is very capable and sharp otherwise. I particularly like how small and light it is and that it has virtually no distortion which is particularly useful for architecture.

I also tried the pre ASPH elmarit (v3) which is also very capable and even cheaper and a Minolta 28mm (it was in perfect condition without any white spots) but preferred the ASPH because it was slightly sharper and more contrasty and controls flare extremely well.

Thanks

Nicholas

I'm seeing the 28cron pretty frequently as little as $2400 or even less. For the m9 it's really off the charts, but on the 240 the Elmarit asph might be better. Also consider the CV 28/1.9 and F/2, which are very nice lenses under $500.

28 elmarit asph is a fine lens, although some say v4 is stronger, but a lot bigger. :-)

Thanks Charlie well noted Sir

I had the 28 cron before and it was my favorite lens when I needed the focal length, for its easy butter like focusing ring should have never sold it a few months back, but hey we are all GAS heads, or at least some of us

Happy new year to all my fellow Leicaphiles. Nothing to post I'm afraid but a safe and happy 2015 to all of you.

I did buy myself a new post Christmas present that may or may not be a Noctilux.. So hopefully soon I can begin posting some images again.

Been off the radar for a bit. Great images but not enough time to comment on all.... Hope everyone had a great Holiday and I wish everyone a Happy New Year!

Phil - I owned the 28Elmarit asph when I had my M8 and really enjoyed it. Super small, and very sharp from around f/4 onwards right to the corners. Handles beautifully and as others have mentioned, it is quite "contrasty" in output. I felt it was similar to some of the ZM glass I have owned, such as the ZM35C. Also, I think it is a great lens for B&W work. I suppose the only thing (if it is even a negative) is the lack of character. Aside from that, it does everything quite well. Best of luck!

I forget if you own the 21SEM or not.. It has a similar way of taking a photo. Very sharp color pop. Contrasty. And I LOVE the small size.
