It would be better with crochet on top (small cotton hand made square shaped), it gives nice vintage look.

edit: this is what I had in mind, my setup..

Great train track shots!

Denoir, really like the image with the red buoys.

A few shots from M9 + 35/2 ASPH.

anyway to your issue, I think I would run a second monitor at lower rez for the web. Windows simply is not capable of scaling well at these UHD rezes, while Yosemite has been reworked to scale up: but even that needs some real configuration magic by them.....tyg not me

In the end your monitor will likely be better for printing and color gamut, while the Imac is sharper and better for day to day use as a single monitor.

I wish I had better advice. Please let us know how you deal with the issue

I chose one big monitor to get away from a dual monitor setup Anyway, I have not really found a solution. For the fundamental problem of varying PPI, there is really no solution. It's like your image being printed on something, but you don't know the size, the material or the color calibration..

More relevant to this forum is that all my prior lens rendering style obsession was well.. um.. highly PPI dependent. Some lens characteristics that I could have sworn by are simply gone. On the plus side, everything looks better at high PPI (no surprise there). On the negative side is that I feel that I'm missing some of the character that I liked about some specific lenses. What I would have categorized as "typical Zeiss" isn't there any more. In most cases I can't tell a high end Canon zoom lens from a high end Zeiss prime. Canon 5DII shots at 100% look almost as good as M9 shots at 100% (with high PPI having an AA filter becomes a non-issue).

The bottom line is that I feel that I've gained a lot in image quality across the board but lost a large amount of creative control both at the pixel level and at the level of choosing a specific lens rendering style.

Anyway, for my own browsing needs, I found a firefox plugin that allows me to set a custom zoom level (the standard ones result in either a too large or too small image). Chrome at the same zoom level destroys image detail:

Cool shot of the 5k by the way

Chrome is not good with colors, mozilla is better. My problem is how to get proper printscreen... mozilla corrects all colors not just images, slight changes in calibration and chaos is everywhere. It is not easy to do color correct print screen capture,,,, I manage to get it pretty accurate, but I need to have good profile all the time.
One of your shots has blue tint instead of white, and that screen capture looks way off..

Unfortunately that didn't in mozilla. It still resizes the image incorrectly (correct side on the left):

Sorry for the blue tint - there's some mismatch between the screen capture color space and the monitor color space. I haven't got it working altogether (either it looks good in PS, but exports poorly when converted to sRGB or it exports well but has a yellow tint in PS).

So, on high ppi monitor image is scaled differently in image viewer and browser(as with: actual pixels?). It should work..
.. even samsung plans high resolution mobile phones. Time to adapt..
I have a color picker addon for Mozilla and it is nearly impossible to capture screen from mozilla with the same color/numbers. The only way to get same numbers is to turn off the color management in mozilla. You can right click and choose inspect element and then see the background color on this thread (in numbers) and compare to actual captured image.
I usually assign monitor profile to captured image (greenshot automatically saves image to disk and to clipboard), then I convert to srgb. it is somehow reverse of what Mozilla CM does. Well not exactly reverse but it works..
