I have a question, how is it that almost ALL the OM lenses are so tiny? Most of our other alt. usage (zeiss, leica, pentax etc.) all have similar dimensions but the OM's are freakishly tiny.

Olympus made compactness a priority over other things, also their helicoid/focus ring is very simple and compact which help reduce size.

Some more Zuiko 50/3.5 shots (on E-P3):

And one with rather funky bokeh - Zuiko 35/2, wide open.

Slight problem here. I bought the Big_Is om eos adapter but the notch on the adapter where the lense locks into the adapter is curved/circular (whereas the oly lense release mount is a rectangular tab that goes in and out) so it doesnt quite lock on. The lense release button remains depressed while the lense is mounted. When I try to remove the lense from the camera, the lense comes undone with the adapter. What should i do?

I had a similar problem - the adapter just wouldn't fit. I trashed it and bought another one from a different manufacturer. Decided not to bother with a 30 Euro piece of metal and wasn't able to return it without considerable shipping cost... *shrugs* If it's still within the return period, return it.

The flower is about 8mm in diameter - very tiny. The stamen is about 3 or 4mm in length, less than 1mm in diameter.

I'm letting this go on the bay in case anyone is interested.

rtester,
Have you tried stacking? So far I've found that right around 1:1 (1x) magnification these super-macro lenses really want to be stacked. At 1x 5 to 25 images do it nicely, at 2x 15 to 50 images, at 3x 25 to 75, at 4x 30 to 100 images and so on - with the lens set between f/5.6 and f/11 somewhere (at least on M4/3). You can peruse this site or the macro forums here to get some idea: http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/index.php

Here's one such image by another photographer using the same lens (38/2.8):
http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6003/5999820944_0a0f076384_o.jpg
I think he said this was a 90 image stack using 0.5mm steps and I can't remember the aperture he set but I bet it was over f/5.6

Damn, now I have severe GAS... Why didn't anybody tell me alt glass is addictive? I have a very nice 85/2 on the way and can't wait. I keep checking the tracking website every five minutes to watch its progress.
