I knew I shouldn't have peaked inside this thread Just bought a 35/2.8 version 3--my first Leica lens. Now I have a long list of R lenses I want to buy

My friend, you have just stepped on the ice covered slope. First, it's the R lenses and then you find the M cameras and lenses. You have now smoked the photography crack pipe.
Dear alt members, I have that buying itch again! ha ha I have access to mint/new leica-r 35 f/2 rom and 50 f/2 rom. I have no use for rom lenses as it will go on a canon. I've been browsing the leica lens page (which clarifies things!) about the different types.
for the 35:
On the street - $US 2,995 in 2008 - 540 in 2010
for the 50:
On the street - $US 1,495 in 2008 - 600 (3-cam) - 790 (ROM) in 2010
I'm under the impression that the seller is wanting to sell. I've looked at jcowells db which say $995 for the 35 and 550 for the 50. I've been tracking ebay but there aren't that many ROMs for sale. What would be a nice lowball offer (especially the 35 since there is such pricing parity?)
My suggestion. If you really like Leica, get it mint, and get it now. The price will only go up. I still remembered the 50 Cron on BH is listed for USD 660 new in 2004. I bought mine for 350 used (like new condition) in 2006.

Did you do the "surgery"? Frighteningly close shave, down within 2mm or so of the rear element. Haven't seen much written about that lens; is its performance characteristics similar to the 80 Summilux (soft, glowing at 1.4 & razor sharp stopped down)?
