All due respect back, I mentioned the nikkor glass for cinema wondering if it was understood in the wrong context. You need not to come on to me so strongly and please calm your tits with all due respect. I certainly do appreciate the images and comments posted here. What makes you think otherwise ?? I did use the R lenses FYI. Well congratulations for shooting with all those lenses. I did shoot with zeiss ZF, ZM, CY and M42 lenses. and briefly R and M mount lenses. I dont have anything against old glass and I personally have quite a good collection of old lenses with me right now. Have a good day. Cheers.

With all due respect, your comments here about Nikkor lenses have no relevance about Leica R lenses. I don't know if you have actually used any Leica R lenses. If you have, I believe that you will appreciate the comments and images posted here. Personally, I use Nikon AF/MF, Zeiss ZF/ZM/ZA/EF/Otus and Leica M/R lenses, I always have a special attachment to Leica R lenses because of their mechanical robustness and optical performance. In additional to the comments provided by other R lenses earlier, I must say, the Elmarit-R 19mm V2, Elmarit-R 28mm V2, APO-Elmarit-R 100mm, and APO-280mm/4, developed more than 20 years ago, are still peerless today in many respects. ...Show more →
I have the same experience. I owned almost every pro Nikon lens from 16mm to 500mm and many pro Nikon bodies. But I now only keep my Leica R glass to use with a Df (maybe will downsize to a D700). My last Nikon lens (200 VR) will be listed for sale soon. Nikon lenses are great no doubt. But Leica R lenses are special and a joy to use. The built quality, form factor and optical performance all are excellent. Of course, no AF but it means I am not worried about electronic failure. Happy shooting.

Respect is earned. You register at FM at the beginning of this month and your second post is to dis Leica R lenses.
So be it. However, you need to be credible in your posts and before professing knowledge, you need to show us your work.
According to your profile, the gear you are using as posted this month, is rather old and the lenses are run of the mill stuff.
You claim to have used Leica R lenses and Leica M lenses. Post the pictures you shot....with Exif.
You claim " I personally have quite a good collection of old lenses with me right now". List your lenses and show us a pic.
In the mean time, you have zero credibility and you are considered a troll.
Show us your Leica pictures and you collection of old lenses, alternatively, change the Kool-Aid you are drinking.
Hi evryone,
I can only say that I would warn people against over-dramatising and exaggerating the situation, do not lose your temper for no nothing please. People can say whatever they think about Leica R lenses, I do not really mind as I have already made up my mind. I won't abandon my Leica R lenses as long as I am able to adjust the focus manually. Even if you can find a "better" lens, ergonomic skills of Leica R lenses are so good that I do not want to leave them behind... So I do not feel angry nor upset about that...
The real purpose is to make pictures you like to share whatever your gear is, bad or good. A good photo has nothing to do with a good lens actually.
Best regards.
Well some of my Leica M and R lenses are stunning performers and I have learned to use the TechArt Pro (TAP) autofocus adapter even with the tele lenses like APO-Telyt-R 280/4 or Vario-Telyt-R 105-280/4.2 that I use supported on a tripod. The camera, for example an A7r.2, a6300, or A9, then needs to be supported by the TAP. Some folks consider the Summilux-R 80/1.4 to be the best portrait lens ever. May that be as it is. In any case it's absolutely wonderful to use handheld wide open with TAP AF on any of the 3 Sony cameras mentioned above. I prefer my 2 FF cameras as they have IBIS, or whatever Sony calls it. Two of my favorite M lenses used with the TAP are the AA Summicron 75/2 and the WATE 16-18-21/4.
I couldn't care less if anybody tries to trash these Leica M and R lenses and others as well for whatever reason as it must be out of ignorance or bad intention. For me these Leica lenses deliver stunning IQ on my Sony cameras and complement nicely some of my excellent native FE lenses or my Noct-Nikkor 58/1.2 and Nikkor 28/1.4 that were the first Nikon lenses with aspherical elements. It's absolutely wonderful to use all these lenses with their own unique characters on my Sony cameras. Enough said - I need to go and shoot some pictures.
You should remind yourself of that from time to time.
You register at FM at the beginning of this month and your second post is to dis Leica R lenses.
Is that all you got from my post ?? You make it look like I have joined FM with the sole intention dissing R lenses. Please grow up and stop indulging in propaganda. Looks like you are very intolerant to other peoples opinions. I suggest you practice more tolerance.
So be it. However, you need to be credible in your posts and before professing knowledge, you need to show us your work.
Unlike you, I hardly profess to be a "GURU" I never claimed to be an expert neither in my profile nor in my post. I am a constant learner. Anybody who thinks they are a "GURU" is deluding themselves. No matter how much you learn, there is always something left.
According to your profile, the gear you are using as posted this month, is rather old and the lenses are run of the mill stuff.
Haha, Okay. I buy whatever I can afford. I sell off stuff I dont use. I have made a living with this very own "run of the mill" stuff since the last 5 years atleast. I no longer have the money to buy the latest and the greatest. I have an adequate kit that gets the job done. I dont need zillion dollar lenses and bazillion dollar bodies to be a professional
You claim to have used Leica R lenses and Leica M lenses. Post the pictures you shot....with Exif.
Firstly I dont owe you anything by way proof. If you dont believe it then thats not my problem. With exif ?? haha
You claim " I personally have quite a good collection of old lenses with me right now". List your lenses and show us a pic.
WHY SHOULD I ?? As I said I dont owe you anything.
In the mean time, you have zero credibility and you are considered a troll.
I dont crave for credibility and certainly I am not a troll inspite of the fact that you are trying your best to make me look like one.
Show us your Leica pictures and you collection of old lenses,
Like I said I dont owe you anything..
alternatively, change the Kool-Aid you are drinking.
Follow your own advice first, before you preach.
one more piece of advice: Stop getting offended, angry grumpy, insulting when other people dont agree with you or have a different opinion.
Exactly my point. Shoot with what you like orrespective of what anyone says. We can all have our individual opinions and still be friends. I never dissed R lenses, my point is all of them are not great, that is all. Cheers and happy clicking.
Please dont get your panties in a twist, I am not dissing anyone, anyone's photos or R lenses. I am just expressing my opinion. that is all. Cheers and happy clicking

I think you mean not all of them are great. Of course that could be said to any M lens, Zeiss, L glass or any brand of glass.
No matter what is your intention, I wouldn't simply go to L glass thread say L glass sucks or Zeiss thread say nothing special about Zeiss. Not much value added to any discuss. I might say I used AAA lens, and compare to BBB lens, I prefer BBB, here is why.....
Spending some time here in Alt forum, you will find many people are very knowledgeable and have lots of experience use all kinds of glass and also experienced to see lots of glass, knowing what to see, what to expect, what is the plus, what is the minus, what is the value of certain lens ....
It is never black or white thing, and most people here never claimed anything false. Given objective and personal view on lens and share image to back up what you see is better way to participate. The good glass for you or me may have different meaning to others.

These were taken last year at the international street art festival in Brande, DK. Painters from all over Europe came over and created some fascinating 3D street art.
All with the Elmarit-R 2.8/19mm on a tripod with the Sony A7R. Simply love the clean and rich colors produced by this gem of a lens. There is a difference in colors being just saturated and being clean and rich.
