For sure, this is an excellent lens. As it is not my favourite focal length, I sold it. It's excellent at long distance, what it has been made for... I had this one, the Apo Elmarit-R 280/2.8 and the Apo Summicron-R 180/2. Today, I have got the non-Apo Elmarit-R 180/2.8 ver.II and I like it very much, no distorsion and a perfect combo with Apo-Extender-x1.4 to make a very good 250/4 with a mini. focus distance at 1.80m...
