I just received a beautiful copy of the Leica R Elmarit 28/2.8 with retractable lens hood. Is there a trick to extending the lens hood? Can it be extended without mounting? I can't seem to figure out if this is an issue or not but I can't get it extended! Is it possible it was locked for shipping?

The hood should just slide forward if you grab the hood and pull it and slide it (easiest to grab the hood on the long axis ends of the hood) away from the lens body. It should slide forward whether the lens is is mounted or unmounted from a camera body.
Thanks and yes it's the V2! It was basically just a little stuck . . . probably from being packaged well for shipping. All is good and now I'm waiting for my Leica R to NEX adapter.
