Hers are some images cross posted in Sony A7 (r) photo thread that I took last evening at the Trexler Nature Preserve in Schnecksville, PA. The first is taken with my tripod mounted Leica R 280mm f4 Apo Telyt lens and my A7r and all of the flower images were taken with my tripod mounted Leica R 100mm f2.8 Apo-Macro-Elmarit lens and my A7r. All images processed in LR5.5; some images relativily heavily processed from RAW.
Jeremy...I see your liking the 90 Cron! Its a great lens!! The images with the kids a page or two back were great!!
Here are some with the Lux R 50 and R 80..

Nice shots, Greg! Is the second one wide open as well? I am learning to use my 80, and am finding it quite soft wide open, even when I manage to get it in focus, which isn't the easiest thing in the world for me (on A7R)
R80 lux is known to be soft wide open due to undercorrected SA which gives it the Mandler glow. That goes away supposedly by 2.8 where it becomes very sharp with nice bokeh.

Thanks, Wayne! Now at least I can stop trying to chase a unicorn!
Jack, has posted quite a few beautiful portraits wide open with the R80 lux on the A7r in the Walter Mandler thread he started. Although not super sharp wide open, the subject will be relatively sharp compared to blurred background and it has dreamy soft bokeh and beautiful unique rendering. It is a very nice portrait lens, Congrats, on your new to you copy! Hope to get one someday.
Hi Philber...before I got mine, I was concerned about WO sharpness, too. And then zhangue was saying how he wished his copy of the 80 had as much pop as my 90 Cron.
I shoot it WOost of the time, and granted, I've only had it for 3 weeks, but I find my copy is sharp WO. Not 100 planar sharp, but more than acceptable!! And for some reason, I feel the 80 has very good 3D rendering, too. It tends to be more subtle than say the planar, but IMO it's there just the same!!
But, the R80 has a unique look that in my limited experience, most lenses can't replicate! And now with the grip for the A7, it's much more comfortable to carry around!!

Philber...here are two shots I took that were WO with the R80. They are pretty much sooc jpg's. When I saw these on my big screen, I was blown away. These might be cross posted, so sorry if everyone has already seen them...

Haven't posted here in a while - tough when you only have one R lens . . .
Humped the 180/3.4 APO Telyt 4,000 feet up this morning for a few shots on the A7R. Excellent sharpness right down to the pixel level if you get it focused perfectly.
Here is an image that I took late yesterday afternoon and as it is approaching sunset (it is cross posted in the Sony A(r) image thread). The image was taken with my tripod mounted A7r with my Leica R 28mm f2.8 Elmarit V2 lens with Singh-Ray Lighter Brighter Color Combo Polarizer in Orefield, PA. Processed in LR5.5
