For a change: a picture with the Elmarit 28mm of a sculpture of white stone inside the big Jain temple in Jaisalmer Fort.
Elmarit 28mm (first version) @ f 5.6 ISO 800, Nikon D700, as always.
You know that you and your pics are the reasons why I started with conversion my Leica lenses ?
(and of course that I bought few additional one - like the APO macro)
I wish you much success for your bidding on ebay. I stopped buying lenses there, as first of all I really have enough now, and also because the prices on ebay are pretty ridiculous. The last two lenses I bought were through a Leica seller at a camera-fair in Frankfurt. The Apo-Macro 100mm like new cost 880Euro, and for the second version of the 28mm Elmarit I paid 580 Euro. The lense is like new and came in the original box (not that I need it) with the leather pouch. So I guess it makes more sense to go to camera-fairs or use other ways than ebay.
I don't even know what that is.. It's a PS action, 'lovely' in 'The sweet set'. It was kind of dull, with no flash and poor light, so i thought this made it better.

Ok, just wanted to confirm what I was seeing because I've been interested in this lens lately and the "glow" although nice and dreamy, doesn't look completely natural to me. Thanks for your reply.
this picture of your son with the bright blue eyes is a wonderful portrait with astonishing colors: skin tones, eye color. Sharpness is also marvellous.
The 50mm Summicron is also one of my favorite lenses, and if I could only choose one lense to take with me on a trip, it would be this one.

Thanks, and yes - i love this lens as well. I sold the last one i had, regretted it immediately, and bought a brand new one on eBay. Love it! As far as i'm concerned the best 50mm i ever had - i like it more than the ZF 50/2 MP too. This is my nephew Marcus btw. Opened this NEF in LR3, and chose 'portrait' in Camera Calibration. And a little vignetting and stuff.
It seems I've got the (1st of many) correct lenses. But the wrong camera!
I've recently got my hands on a nice Canon 7D and added a KatzEye screen. I do like it very much and it really produces great pictures with a nice 17-40 f/4 L Canon, an deven better images with a humble Summicron 2/50 (Leitax'd).
But those colours and, more importantly for me, the atmosphere from those images on the D700 are really rather special, and remind me of my old D50.
Before I do something drastic (like sell the 7D as an impulse tonight when I get home), can I ask how much colour manipulation and/or post processing you D700 owners are applying before publishing them here?
Not much PP in the shot of Marcus. The only color manipulation was -5 reduction in saturation. Shot in 'standard' picture control on the D700 and changed to 'portrait' in LR3. Added a little vignetting and played with curves a little bit, and of course a little sharpening, since i use 0 sharpening in camera. That's about it. It's a little dark, because the only light is from a TV and a window.
Hi! I've been offered a summilux 35mm for 500€ and I'm really tempted to accept and use it on my 5D II. Do you know how much I would have to shave my mirror? I had to shave my Elmarit 19mm by aprox. 1.5mm, would it be the same for the summilux?

500 euro for 'lux 35mm is a steal!
I have 19mm and 'lux 35mm. My 19mm was already shaved (Mark's copy) and I will have to shave mirror of my 5D Mk2 for the 'lux 35mm. I look at both lenses side by side and the rear glass of 35mm projects about .2 to .5mm deeper than 19mm. Thus I suspect you will have to shave your mirror another .2 to .5 mm.
I have not got the gut the shave my mirror yet? Could you give some guidelines and instructions on how to do it? :-) Thanks.
BTW, when comparing 35mm f1.4 vs. 35mm f2 at f2.0, I much prefer the 'lux rendering and boke. The lux is also sharper at center and much sharper at corners. Thus I will shave the mirror -- just when!
