Krosavcheg, a combination of typical Contax 'defined bokeh' (lively yet smooth) together with lower global contrast and excellent midtone saturation characteristics. I see this a lot with bronze and copper artifacts in monasteries. The VS plays very well with shiny coloured metal - you fee you can touch them in the image! thanks for posting.
Hi everyone. Absolutely great photos on the alternative gear forum!! I in the process of getting a C/Y Planar 50 1.4 MMJ, and was wondering if anyone can give me feedback about this lens?? Verse the AEG or the Planar 50 1.7?? Pictures, too??
Thank you,
Gregg
The P50/1.4 C/Y is a terrific fast 50: compact, smooth focus action, great DOF scale, sharp wide open. Downsides are horrible b/g bokeh at widest apertures, and some barrel distortion. No optical difference between MMJ and AEG.
Dave, beautiful shot. lovely colors and very sharp.
Gregg, the drawing styles of both lenses are quite different. I like the bokeh of 1,7 more than 1,4. 1,7 has a beautiful, creamy and gradual blur. I found the 1,7 to have more of the 3Dness than the 1,4.
I'll see if I can post comparative shot using both the lenses. here I'm talking about the C/Y 50mm 1,4 and C/Y 50mm 1,7.
dbehrens, are those shots of Watkins Glen or Buttermilk Falls? I'm planning a to visit both in the coming few weeks. Should be good with all the fall colors. Beautiful shots.

Joining in on the fun here. Got a great deal on a 5DM2 a few weeks ago and puting together a MF lens kit for stills/video - I think I'm going with C/Y Here's a sample of my newly acquired 85/1.4 MMJ.
