Thats the look I love from some of the 85's, especially the Zeiss. The Soft but Detailed look. Shot Wide Open? Looks very dreamy, it could be due to how close it was focused.
Thank you Mr. Tsunami... Indeed it was shot wide open and approaching MFD. Here are a couple more samples:
Well, very impressive - too many people to thank for posting these last page images.
Alf and Aham ( I feel like rolling in that grass), I hope you like your 28mm as much I do mine. The outrageoous COF loses little of relevance to the front corners but what it adds is enough to make it my contender for top 3D dog.
johnahill, how about that corner to corner res, and the tonal scale representation. I really enjoy the slow hundred's work - thanks for sharing.
Helimat (or others) , how do you like your C/Y 25? There is very little information on this lens here at FM.
I recently lost my olympus 24/2.8 and want to replace this focal lenght. The oly is really sharp, but its colors were quite different from what I get with my contax 35/1.4 50/1.7 and 85/1.4. So a CY 25/2.8 could be nice.
(btw I'm not interested in 28mm, that is too close to 35 for me)

I haven't used the 25/2.8 as much as I should have, but from what I see I like. It isn't as sharp in the corners as some of my other Zeiss's, but the fall off isn't dramatic enough to bother me, especially stopped down which is where I hope to use this lens. It just received some competition though... I have added three more Contax's to my lineup, and the 28/2 'Hollywood' is among the group.
So far the new additions are looking pretty good, and I haven't even really tried the Hollywood yet. (Got to figure out if & how I can overcome mirror interference)

I love my Distagon 28. I don't feel the need for another 28 really.
I've made some more close-ups with it recently which I like quite a lot (will post soon). I actually like the bokeh wide open.
I just gotta get myself a Planar 50/1.4 now. I think I'll go for a ZE or ZF though.
@John Black: Very nice. You really have a knack for making those nice compositions.
@helimat: I'm jealous. I'd like to try out that 60/2.8 some time. I'm extremely happy with my Mamiya 645 200/2.8 APO though -- it wouldn't show those cyan fringes in the highlights.
I really like the shot of the float plane, btw.

Thanks Benjamin. The MP seems to be a great pick up. I originally was thinking of getting the ZE 50/2 MP, but went this route to save a few bucks. I basically got the 28/2, 60/2.8 & 180/2.8 for not much more than the new ZE!
I am also pretty happy with the Sonnar... I know the Mamiya 200/2.8 is a real gem, but I am guessing that it is worth a few more bucks and takes up more space in the bag than my 180. My problem now is do I sell my 80-200/4, or keep both?

^^^^^ Nice photos Helimat !
But i think you need to quit testing them lenses and mow your grass !
Regards,
Thanks! As for the lawn, I did go out and mow it finally. Usually I don't have to mow it for the first time until we're well into May, so I suppose I was putting it off.

Yes, the space requirement for the Mamiya is a bit of a problem (and the weight, at the end of 2 hours of shooting today it was difficult to hold it still). Sometimes I wish it was a zoom too. f/2.8 is really nice to have though. I'll probably try the VS80-200/4 some time.

Nice, Mat. Still haven't tried the Hollywood?
I have tried it, but there is a mirror interference issue. Additionally, there are some light cleaning marks on the front element that weren't disclosed in the auction listing, so I am in the process of negotiating compensation with the seller, (who, to be fair, is working with me & trying to resolve the issue) before I go ahead and modify the lens for use on my 5D2. The few shots I did take (had to use liveview) seem to indicate that it will be a decent performer though.
