Philip - I enjoy 28mm focul length very much. It is wide enough, but not too wide.

RTWilson - Lovely shots. I like the color and bokeh very much. Is this planar 50/1.7 ??

JD -
Is there anyone that has used both, the new zeiss ze 35 f2 and the c/y 28 f2.8 and can compare them. I have the 35, but I'm looking for a wider look for mostly landscapes. Are they too similar?

I own ZF.2 35mm/f2 and CY28/2.8 They are different to me. 35 is not quite a wide angle, but very close to my own field of view when I am casually looking at things. 28mm feels like it is a wide angle, but not too much so it is quite handy. For architecture shots, that is my current preferred angle. CY28/2.8 is tiny, light, inexpensive, and has great rendition. Curvature of filed is strong in close distance, so it is not my first choice for flat subject close up, that is not noticeable in distance. Close up for three dimensional subject is very strong.
Here is an example from a while back. Not a beauty shot, but shows off the character.

Thanks Akul for your reply and sample pic. Yes, I'm hoping I will feel the same way too. I just purchased one from another FM'r, and if I get some images I like with it I will post them. jd

Beautiful shots of a Japanese garden (?) Wonderful capture of the tree. 18mm looks very good. Assume it is similar to the Z version? Color of these shots are different from your 21shots on the other thread. Different body, or lens characteristics ?

Hi, same body (7D), same WB, no photoshop at all.

Interesting. They seem to have different rendition ? Both 18 and 21 are very nice though.

akul, you have convinced me to never leave the 28/2.8 behind, your NEX shots are wonderful on the alte model Sony sensor, goodness me those two play well together, and the 3D is excellent at an effective normal lens FL - 42mm.

kop.cppua - Beautiful shot. Did not know CY.28 is good for IR too.

Philip - Thanks. CY28 really sings with NEX. Focusing is so easy, and the weight / size balance with the tiny body is pretty good. Great shots with 21. Love the first shot. Quite a texture!

trumpet_guy - Beautiful shots of pier. Great color, reflection and the sky.

trumpet_guy - Great light reflection on the water. Deepe blue on this one is quite beautiful.

helimat - nice timing for the splash. Is it a bird or a fish. Could not tell from web size pic.

kop.cppua - Great IR shot. Very pretty. The ocean shot is beautiful with green in foreground.

poncho_morales - I have not seen much of 'hollywood' version. Very nice bokeh

Akul, you have the 28 2.8 on your Nikon? If so, did you use Leitax?

Hi rsolti13

Yes, I did Leitax conversion. I had CY28 f/2.8 being unused from my film days. With the conversion, it got second life and It is working very well. The only thing that did not work was that I got one with dandelion chip, but the chip was a bit too bulky and hit lens barrel, resulting not able to focus, so I removed the chip. It was not a big deal, but was a bit disappointed. Now with NEX + Nikon adapter, focusing is quite easy and it is getting used even more.

helimat - I swear I see silver reflection from a fish in that shot !! Nice seagull shot. 80-200 f4 seems like a very good lens.

Morfeus - Great shot. Learning the context enhances the viewing too.
