Quite the conundrum....I have 24 covered with the 24G and the 14-24 but it's 2.8, big and conspicuous. The 24 prime is just so sublime......

Well it's not a conundrum if you get both

This lens will focus in almost complete darkness, every time I use it, I'm amazed at what it can do.

Both of these shots were taken from the hip in very poor light.....

Those are beautiful, wish I could say the same for my copy. In low light, I was getting about a 40% keeper rate. And before anyone faults me for technique I have no problems in the same conditions with my 50mm f/1.4D or my 85mm f/1.4D. I recently sent my 24mm back to Nikon to have it looked at. Unfortunately, I couldn't confirm the focus problem until after the 30 day return period. Crossing my fingers that I get a performer back.

When the lens hits, it makes beautiful images:
ISO 3200, 1/60 sec, f/1.4:

I was reading a user's review on amazon, and it seems like he complained the AF is not fast enough to keep up pace with certain wedding events. My question is whether or not you share the same experience.

here is his review: http://www.amazon.com/review/R38ZZOS4E78OMN/ref=cm_cr_pr_viewpnt#R38ZZOS4E78OMN

Was fooling around with the new D7000... sold my d90 because the af doesn't work with this lens, period... now i'm loving this lens since af is soo much more reliable and spot on... Just fooling around with the camera and lens combination... ISO 6400, f/1.4, 1/13s normal jpeg... Can't even see where i'm aiming this... used af assist for af hence the centered subject... If you are forced in this situation, i think i'll be happy to get this

Just finished downloading RAW pack for CS5, Raw converted file is sooo much better than in camera jpeg...

Real cute Tony! I have had a similar picture in my head for awhile now but haven't had the chance to try it. My toddler has a ladybug toy that projects stars on the ceiling at night, looks like you have a similar thing here.

See some of phillip ino's wedding shots in here...excellent. He has plenty of shots of people dancing/jumping/etc. Sure, it isn't 70-200 fast, but if you learn how to use it properly it can handle about anything. I don't use it for weddings...mainly for chasing my daughter around, but I have never had focusing issues.

I think this (or maybe the 35 f/1.4 G ) is going to be my first FX lens. Love these shots. Tons of talent on this site.
