Welcome back Henrik! Were have you been hiding?

Lovely kitten by the way and nice pics. I prefer the rendering of the 135 to that of the 60. Great portrait lens.

Hey Ed,
have been lurking around but haven't much to show and tell at the moment. What with all the snow and all and a lot of work I haven't had many photo op's lately - photo hibernation so to speak. Was going to BKK but decided to postpone. But soon, I hope.

Nice shots Edward! I guess you needed the extra length of the 135 or you would of probably used your favorite 85/1.4.
I like the lighting in the last one as his jacket is just so barely standing out from the black background.
Haven't seen any posts from you in awhile.
Hope you are safe over there!

Thanks Wayne.

As I mentioned previously, I think it's pointless to compare these excellent 2 lenses as the FL is so different. They both have different uses. For stage shooting the 85 is just too short.

I didn't post much recently because I'm disgusted and frustrated with the current situation in Thailand. I have found out that patriotism is very low on the prioritie's list and it seems money is in the top priority even for people whose duty is to protect and serve.

A900 + Samyang 85 1.4 (@ 2.0).

I never used this lens much on my former D700 (used the 105 2.5 AIS instead), but on the A900 I really enjoy it. MFing is easier than I would have thought. After a few initial "warm up shots" each time I use it, I find my keeper rate to be maybe around 80 % (at f2.0-ish). The A900 VF with the M screen is a delight to use with MF lenses.

Edward,

I remember you taking excellent stage shots with the 85 too awhile back, maybe smaller venue so you were closer. I was just joking with you about the 135 vs. 85, both are great lenses.
Hope things get better there soon. Unfortunately, without holding free elections there I think this will just continue on. I want to plan my next trip there but having reservations because of all the turmoil.

Sean,

Nice shot and your shot just reminded me of all the fun you can have playing couples pool like that.

Mortyb,
Nice capture. That Samyang 85 is sure sharp at f2 and can provide 3-d.
Need to shoot some with my copy.

I knew you were teasing

Despite everything Bangkok is still a safe place, there is just one area to avoid. Free elections should be the way to go if such a thing was possible. Unfortunately any elections that happen in the near future are almost sure to be bought by the multi-billionaire fugitive ex-prime minister

A trip in the near future will ensure you some excellent conflict photo opportunities. Come soon

Thanks Wayne! Yeah, 2 on 2 double date style pool is great. I'm glad you liked the snap shot.

Edit: Just wanted to add, as mentioned above... the a900 with the M screen is a real treat for manual focusing. I took several MF shots that night with my friends playing pool, easily 70% or more, and it was not light in there! (fill flash used for lighting )

incredible! I am very sceptical about this lens, but shots like this and some more I have seen before are eroding my reserve

I thought these were Canon colors. No way they could be Sony's.

Just kidding
