That shot with the 1.4/85 reconnects me to the reason I purchased that lens, despite almost being scarred off by Lloyd Chambers. Great hand held with a heavy camera, and picky lens, wide open!

Well, thanks! It's a gem and certainly too many stare themselves blind on MTF charts and miss all the heavenly beauty
also, I love getting to know my lenses. Certainly there are situations the 85P would be more of a challenge than perhaps other fast 85's would, but hey, it's art (or for art).
Jorge, if there ever was something as too sharp, that might just be it. Do you apply raw sharpening above the bare minimum? The eyes almost look crispy! Congrats on the lens, must be a joy!

Digging through old stuff. Here is one with the 15mm zm. Amazing glass. Shot with an m8. OK camera but had some flaws with wide lenses and lack of it filter.
Erm. The Contax lenses were with Contax mount, made for Contax cameras, and are made by Zeiss, but are not ZE/ZF or ZM lenses. The ZE/ZF and ZM lenses are not Contax lenses, but Zeiss-labelled lenses, and come with native mounts for Canon, Nikon and Leica M, respectively.
This thread is for the latter group of lenses, which are particularly interesting to many, because they behave like native lenses, and are still made and sold new. The Contax lenses are no longer made, and are partly no longer even serviced. People adapt them, or exchange the mounts.
There is another thread, for all Zeiss lenses, including both Contax and ZE/ZF/ZM lenses, as well as anything else Zeiss has made, which I started as a more inclusive thread, out of frustration that I could not post my Contax 80-200/4 shots here, with my ZF.2 shots.
Isnt the lens formula identical? Regardless of you trying to attract traffic to "your" thread, what about ZM which is totally different? Is this your thread to police?

Formula is close to identical, but many have reported Contax version is better wide open. For me biggest difference is that ZE and ZF have close to round aperture when closed down.
Both of them (Contax and ZE/ZF) would shoot this kind of subject exactly the same way - ZE Planar T* 1.4/50 @ f/5.6, Zeiss T* polarizer
It depends strongly on the lens. The 21 is very similar, but for example, the 100 Makros are completely different. The 50/1.4 is quite similar, but the Contax is a little stronger wide open, although I find the ZF a little smoother.

No, of course not, don't be ridiculous. The other thread is doing fine without anyone trying to attract any traffic to it. You can post or not post in any thread you like, and deal with the consequences yourself, we are all adults here.
However, know the history properly: when I bought my Contax 80-200/4, I asked politely here if people thought it would be okay for me to post my shots made with it here, and the predominant answer was no (some by post, some by PM), this was not a good idea, it was a ZE/ZF/ZM thread. This was why I created the other thread, where people could post any Zeiss shot, not just ZE/ZF/ZM.
