Denoir, I have to tell you, I'm very impressed with your progress.
Your images are representing very well what Zeiss stands for IMO.
Add to it a good sense of light and good post-processing -
great job my friend.
Overall I have a feeling many new Zeiss owners progress nicely
as it can be seen in this thread. Very nice guys
Thanks Andrew! Your images were the initial inspiration for me (and I'm guessing for a few others as well) to get into this whole Zeiss racket I'm still in awe of how these lenses render images so I'm mostly just playing around seeing what kind of stuff I can get out of them.
Joakim: Love that first photo. The geometric perspective relation between the sun and the plant make a powerful impression. Great light as well.
Hello guys, first shot with my new 2.8/21 ZE :-). This lens is indeed something special (apart from its known distortions).. As Phillipe pointed out in another thread, it does turn my camera into a P&S..

I've found the NR in Capture One to be superb, at about the same level as what I've seen from LR3 and much better than anything in LR2.
Definitely a learning curve though, C1's oriented towards repeatable, high-volume processing, far more so than Lightroom is and how some of the tools work doesn't entirely make sense until the first time you try and apply the same set of edits/presets to 200 images.
I didn't really get a handle on using the NR in particular until I went to a workshop for C1 (luckily a free workshop for the C1 5 launch).
I'd still recommend LR for somebody just dipping their toes into Post though, C1 is very specifically oriented towards pro photographers and designed for their needs, particularly towards high-volume, repeatable edits. LR is much better suited to most serious amateur photographers or low-volume pro's....Show more →
plus am tired of how LR messes with skin tones!! Despite of having created color profiles for the camera.

C1 Pro 5 has a tool specifically designed for skin tone correction, it does wonders for any sort of colour cast but the stock presets are specifically for skin tones and that's what it's optimized for.
For skin tones, Imagenomic Portraiture plugin for CS5 work in 64 bits and is very sophiticated, yet simple to use. You can use it on many levels. This is the reason, why I like CS5 and LR, as there is a lot of support for different add ons, whether it is NR or masks. Really it is on limited by my knowledge on how to use it properly. In essence C1 and DxO are all excellent, and have their unique features, but I the plugins for these programs are not readily available allowing the programs to customized with new features. It is great that we do have these choices, and flexibility to PP.
charles.K - Yes, the clouds are really something! The first shot has amazing colors.
Makten - Number 3 is fantastic!
Denoir - You need to pull the boat off the plaque, stick some rubber paint on the bottom and toss her in the bathtub and reshoot, the lens renders such great details, I wonder if we'd be tricked into believing it's real shot on the right angle. I think you could do it
A few more shots, the rock that looks like an ape was shot with the 21, the little kids were taken with a 50MP
Thanks, guys.. It's hard to capture kids, especially when they've never really had the chance to pose in front of a camera. So they just act really wild, and hopefully in the chaos you get a shot or two. I took 3 shots, and luckily all 3 shots turned out (last shot was an idividual portrait in vertical mode, and I haven't created a resizing action for vertical shots, so I skipped it). I was quite impressed considering MF + kids = disaster.
Will try to get a few more up in a while.. Definitely tonight I'll post more.
The final moments of the amazing Spring 2010.
Beautiful dogwood tree bloom in Sequoia National Park.
Such a sight, hard to believe, but the peak lasted for 2 (two) days!
It was a great combination of moisture, sun breaking through some
clouds, colder temps, amazing light and colors, colors, colors.
The park is usually very dry and you never see such a range of greens
there. Just those two days. I drove again yesterday, but it's already gone,
there some dogwood trees blooming still, but it's already hot and dry.
The most beautiful forest in the world.
