Lightroom is a lot easier. Capture One is "smarter" the auto white balance tends to actually work, and the moire and fringing reduction algorithms are superior to lightroom, and very helpful with the M9 The noise reduction in Lightroom is great though, so I will probably keep using both in tandem. Especially since I get Lightroom free with the M9.
I've found the NR in Capture One to be superb, at about the same level as what I've seen from LR3 and much better than anything in LR2.
Definitely a learning curve though, C1's oriented towards repeatable, high-volume processing, far more so than Lightroom is and how some of the tools work doesn't entirely make sense until the first time you try and apply the same set of edits/presets to 200 images.
I didn't really get a handle on using the NR in particular until I went to a workshop for C1 (luckily a free workshop for the C1 5 launch).
I'd still recommend LR for somebody just dipping their toes into Post though, C1 is very specifically oriented towards pro photographers and designed for their needs, particularly towards high-volume, repeatable edits. LR is much better suited to most serious amateur photographers or low-volume pro's.
Been a while since I posted on this thread....a lot of nice shots from everyone. This thread helped push me toward getting the ZE 100/2 and now I'm intrigued by a lot of the shots from both of the 50's.
Anyhow, for now I am trying to use the one Zeiss I do have
Jeffrey: Thank you! Good shot. I think the zeiss 35/2 is becoming very popular
bpark42: very good pastel colours with 100MP.
denoir: Great captures in the evening. Really enjoying the twilight feel.
Hi. I'm delighted to have found this thread on FM when looking for samples of the 35ze. I bought my own 35ze yesterday. I can't wait to try it out. I have owned the 50 f/1.4 since it first came out. Here's are a few of the 50 f/1.4 wide open
Jeffrey, nice shot! I don't mind the branches, either. Beautiful car, Denoir, well captured, too. Is it a 96?. Fine cat pics, dobygot, and congrats on your new lens!
Thanks guys! Philippe: Yep, it's a SAAB 96 Deluxe from 1963.
dobygot: I like the cats, especially the middle picture. In the other two the kitten is great but I find the donut bokeh to be too distracting - an unfortunate rendering characteristic of the 50/1.4 wide open and close up..
The first two photos are beautiful, Joakim. Wonderful color. The last one is very demanding, especially for a wide lens, but the ZF28 delivers really well.
I want to add one of my favorites with the ZF28 (D3, f/2):
I'm not a landscape photographer. I don't actually like shooting landscapes (maybe because I'm no good at it), I prefer portraits and city walk-around life.
I picked up the 21 Distagon ZE for this trip, and brought along my 50 Makro Planar ZE as well. So I'll be posting a few portraits and such with the 50, and some landscapes with the 21.. Here are a few so far...
