Finally bought a ZE 21 after renting one often and see-sawing back and forth about it or a 2/25. Great deal emerged, and I couldn't be happier. My first set from it.
Thank you everyone that responded to my thread about focal lengths a while ago. I ended up taking the 21, 35 and 50 to my trip and I had tons of fun with it. I made a decision to switch to a different system so this is probably going to be my last set from these lenses, I know I'll miss them very much . Anyway here are some pics from the trip, I'm not going to flood the thread but you can see some more in my flickr set.
Beginner question here: How hard is it to manual focus these lenses on either a Nikon D600 or D800? Are the screens good enough for reliable focus or is your hit rate much lower than you would like?
My hit rate with D800 and a series of ZF.2 lenses is decent, but lower than I would like. Part of the problem is surely the focus shift that several of my lenses have. When it is really crucial to nail the focus, I re-focus until I get it right, or use live view.
Rirakuma, Absolutely beautiful images, thanks for share. Since you mention it, I wonder what system could be better you switched to replace D800 and ZF?
Zhangyue, thank you for the kind comment. I'm switching to Leica, its not necessarily better but I like to shoot discreet and there are often times I feel that the D800 is too intrusive. I did consider using Zeiss lenses on the Leica but I wasn't sure if I like the fingerprint on the ZM lineup, I felt that the ZF/ZE lineup had a more pleasing rendering compared to the ZM although I could be very wrong. I will miss the Zeiss pop though, here's one with a bit of pop from the 35/2.

Coincidentally, I took the same set of lenses for our trip last week; however, 50MP didn't get any use. Similarly, while visiting Prague last summer 21/2.8 ZF was mounted most of the time. 50MP purchased for that trip was great for food close-ups though.
Awesome pics Jako , like you the 50mp didnt get used much on my trip either. Not that its bad or anything but I'm just pushing myself to use the 35 more often.
