Zhangyue, thank you for the kind comment. I'm switching to Leica, its not necessarily better but I like to shoot discreet and there are often times I feel that the D800 is too intrusive. I did consider using Zeiss lenses on the Leica but I wasn't sure if I like the fingerprint on the ZM lineup, I felt that the ZF/ZE lineup had a more pleasing rendering compared to the ZM although I could be very wrong. I will miss the Zeiss pop though, here's one with a bit of pop from the 35/2.
Great set above! If you're switching to Leica, be sure to post some images in the M8/M9 thread. While there, check out what Edward is posting with the ZM 18, 25, 35/2, 50/2 and 85/4.
I started with ZM on my M9 and definitely like the Zeiss contrast/clarity. Not sure if the lenses share the 3D pop of some of the ZE/ZF... but then there is also the whole range of Leica glass to consider. I thought it was overrated, and maybe it is for some, but there is something to it, just as there is something to Zeiss glass. Of the Leica M lenses I've tried, I'd say the 28/2 and new 21/3.4 have a certain contrast/vibrancy to them that hints at Zeiss.
Hello all,
Thank you for posting some great images on this thread and some really good discussion.
Here's a couple from Calgary last weekend.
All shot with a 5dmk2, No.1 with the ZE 100mm MP the rest with the ZE 35mm f/2
Wonderland is piece of art by Spanish artist Jaume Plensa and was recently unveiled at the Bow Tower in the downtown of Calgary.
Device to Root Out Evil is by US artist Dennis Oppenheim and was originally located in Vancouver but was moved to Calgary a few years ago.
Finally got out again to the building demolition and cleanup before refurbishing begins. Some interesting finds. All are 5-shot HDRs processed with Nik HDR Efex Pro. I'm starting to nail down a look that I think I like.
