Two more from Oly NP. 1st is in the Hoh Rainforest [from the small MP], where you can see trees resembling ghouls rising up from the ground after a long slumber!

Boris : Many thanks. I am sure you will get some great images from your trip. August also will give you some access to some extra beautiful scenery. [Scenic mountain roads will be open then which are not so in May/June] - you may also have to deal and plan around the summer crowds. Feel free to email/PM if you want me to help you about the trip. Olympic National Park is like 5 parks in one, in terms of diversity, so hopefully you spend sufficient time there. And looks like Gunzorro also will know it very well :-)
I will spend about 10 days in the Olympic NP, that should be enough.
Your second rainforest image is also great.

Lars Johnsson Offline Upload & Sell: Off
rji2goleez: B&W shot is awesome!
Lars: Very nice street photos, 2 and 4 are my favourites.
BTW: I'm off to California this Sunday (work). Next weekend (fri-sun) I will drive between San Francisco and San Diego (mainly on Hwy 1). Any ideas about spots I really shouldn't miss? 35/1.4 and 100/2 will be my company :-)
I have such regrets when I think of all the beautiful places I went before I really got into photography, and all the missed opportunities. Now, with a family and child, I have so few opportunities, and mostly inside Berlin. Back in '90 I went on a motorcycle trip with a friend, from Toronto to Ottawa to Calgary to Vancouver, and Vancouver Island. Then we went down through the Hoh Rainforest, and down the coastal highway, through San Francisco and down to Los Angeles. Then inland, through the desert and Death Valley, over the Hoover Dam, through Arizona and up through the Painted Desert and up to Salt Lake City. Then in through Colorado, over Estes Park, and then down past all the flat bits and back through Detroit to Toronto. I had an Olympus, either OM-2 or OM-4, I don't recall, and shot colour negative film, although I don't recall which. I would love to do that trip again, although I am not sure if my butt would take the punishment again We covered about 500km a day, on average. Total: 37 days, 19.000km. Awesome trip. I have to scan the negatives and see what I've got.
Awesome shots as usual guys!!!
Although I feel very hesitant to post photos on this thread due to my lack of skills, I still want to share them.
Here are some I took at RMNP.
Boris: Agreed. 10 days should be enough to get good coverage. Have fun !
Bob: #3 & #4 would be my picks. Very nice.
Lars: 4th pic: the expression on the guy is interesting! Wonder what he was thinking when you
were clicking the pic. Well framed!
sangdabom73: Another vote for #1 and I also like #2 & #3 too [I like Aspen trees!]
Carsten: Wow Abhijeeth, that first shot is stunning!

I know some aspects of what you are referring to and share a similar feeling. I guess many people can relate to that.
I have visited places when I didn't have my 5d2 or ZE glass or when I was starting this hobby with a Panasonic FZ20. Now I want to go to all those places again with the combo I have now , but ...
Anyway, your 90's journey does sound like an epic road trip! I am assuming you also rode through Oregon as well en route from Washington to California? It is diverse & beautiful and I am yet to do a proper visit. I was particularly amused when you said "...then down past all the flat bits " I won't guess those places even though I can estimate from your route!! And also looks like you have covered many segments of the old "Route 66"!
Do post those scans here (if possible), it'll surely be fun.

Big Sur, Julia Pfeiffer Burns state park, The Hearst Castle, Bixby bridge, Carmel, Monterrey, 17 mile drive & Pebble Beach, Santa Cruz & some sections near Santa Monica are all very nice.
With the exception of The Hearst Castle, all others offer epic landscape opportunities. Hills very close to the beach, waterfall at the edge of a beach [!], sea stacks. The entire coast is pretty.
Morning fog, especially near SFO, gives a special feel to the landscape but after that, plenty of big opportunities come in the late afternoon. You have beautiful places nearby also [beaches of La Jolla].
You'll need a week at least to justice to all those locations! But enjoy the time you are there. Get a wide[r] angle lens if you can to supplement it. Borrowlenses office is closeby to SFO if you prefer to travel light and rent a lens and tripod.
If you have good visibility of the moon, a very late night drive through Hwy 1 with all the reflections and lighthouse beams through the low lying fog will be magical !

Yes, I left out many in-between provinces and states, and the flat bits are the east half of Colorado, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan, but they were so forgettable compared to the west that I don't really remember anything from them, except for one huge field of cattle in Nebraska, standing head-to-tail in a giant maze, presumably waiting to be picked up for slaughtering. We rode from Nebraska to Ontario in one day, and saw nothing to make us stop. We were a bit fatigued, and probably each of those states has something to offer, but we didn't pass it on the freeway We had almost completely stayed off the freeway until we got to Colorado and fell out of the Rockies, but at the end we just wanted to be done.
Another stunning shot! You are just cooking at the moment!
