Guys i have a question how much do you crop? I mean what's the limit or let me try to ask properly how much does your camera let crop? (i hope you understand me)
I guess 5DM2 owners have flexibity but i ask especially D700 owners.

A fantastic thread - some great photographers amongst you. These Zeiss lenses do seem to have a special quality and if the stock mkt is nice to me I may get a 50/2 soon!
Ulff, your Norderney shot is very nice! Your last one looks like an old postcard, just that figure up there looks a bit jerky.
nickson, your Seoul shots are impressive, since handheld
Dalmas, like the colour rendering in your two sets.
Johnahill, your Cornwall shot is glowing
rwcs: like your bike guy shot
Bob, great shots as always, but I especially like the lettres and the 300. The vignette and pp adds to it.
Uzay: I am shooting D700. I have not really tried to crop to the max, but some of the gull shots some pages back are up to 50% of the original image. You have to be careful with sharpening, better do a finer sharpening routine. For the internet I guess you can crop quite a bit, the image deteriorates more the more you crop obviously. Just give it a try with an image you wonder about and let people here judge whether it is overdone or not.
I like your 2nd and 3rd shot.
more rusty stuff, I just can't get enough of the colour rendering
Thank you Cyra, i'll try that, i don't crop mostly or minor cropping but somehow the 21ZF images i see here confuse my mind, by the way how do you process your images NX2, PS?
I am using lightroom, but only have gotten a full (although cheap edu) version a couple of weeks ago, so I am still learning my way around it. I am thinking about buying Capture One as well, I liked the test version better than Lightroom, it is quicker and more intuitive to work with. I also have got an education version of Photoshop and the whole suite CS5, but haven't properly tried it. I don't get along with the sharpening in Lightroom, I need to work on that. I have only started to try to apply some decent post production, I won't be of much help.
some test closeups of flowers with my rather new ZF 35/2 @2
rji2goleez, great series... the 300 shots is very nice!
Mast3rChi3f, Belas fotos!!!
cyra, thanks! Great shots! I really like mine ZF.2 35mm f/2, is my first zeiss. I like the shots you did with 100mm f/2.
Someone can give some info about Zeiss 50mm f/1.4 ? I mean in real use I already saw some reviews and some complains, but I need some advise from someone that use the lens.... thanks!
Rwcs, there are many shots on this thread with the 50 f:1.4, including two shots by dalmas on page 326. It has two weaknesses. One is focus shift, and the other one is that if you are shooting wide open and close up, it is not very sharp. If you don't do so much of that, it is a totally delightful lens, with great colours, contrast and 3D. That it is light and (for Zeiss) cheap is a bonus. On this forum, I would say that maybe 60% of people prefer the 50MP and 40% the f:1.4 It also depends on your other lenses. For example, if you love the 100MP, then you will like the 50 MP more than the f:1.4, but you won't need the macro capability. Or you could just as well choose the f:1.4 to have two different rendering styles to chose from, either the MP style of the f:1.4 style...
Hope this helps...
