Both my 50 and 100MPs are about the same. Maybe not stiff although stiffer than the 21mm and 35mm but it has movement that is ultra smooth or at least feels that way to me.
Wow great portraits Martynas ! They are all great but love the playful ones, like the one playing with hair. Stunning shot! Are you in Lithuania now ?
Lars - Absolutely gorgeous shots. Color, composition, detail. Beautiful. Personally, I love the two finger shots in the set, but they need to be part of the set to really appreciate.
Bob - Amazing shot of Sagrada Famiglia. They are moving much faster than I anticipated. I went there about twenty years ago. There were no ceiling then. And a guy I met working there said it would take another 200 years minimum to finish. By the way, did you correct distortion on that shot?
Ron - Fantastic images from M9.
Snowboarder - Gorgeous shots. Last one is absolutely beautiful. Great to see ZK shots!
Dalmas - Great composition. love the 'plan' view shot very much.
Carsten - Good luck with your 50 MP. I hope your stiff focusing would go away soon. Now out of curiosity, what was the determining factor for 50MP, not 50 planar for your shooting style ? I kind of imagined you might be a 50 Planar person, I don't know why. May be because you already have 100 MP.

Thanks!
They still say completion is due in 2026. The halfway point was 2010. The only distortion correction I did was using Lightroom's auto correction for the Zeiss 21mm. It gave a very slight adjustment for barrel distortion.

Hah, that is funny. It surprises me that someone would think I am a 50 Planar person, not because I couldn't be, but simply because I value sharpness, wide open and up close (not macro region, just close). I think some, perhaps many of my shots do show that.
On the other hand, I have been very impressed by many 50 Planar shots posted here, and do see that it has a special look. If I cannot achieve something close to this with the 50MP, then I will probably add the 50 Planar. 50mm is my favorite focal length anyway, and I don't mind duplication here, especially for a lens with such a special look.
I did borrow alba63's 50 Planar for half a day of intense shooting, but I wasn't able to make sense of it, and was disappointed with many of the photos. Now I think that I missed something, perhaps shooting too close and too wide open, so I will need to give it another chance. I will probably borrow that copy again, once I have learned the 50MP, before buying my own.
But since I now have ZF 21 and ZF.2 MP 50/100, I think that either a 35mm or a 28mm would probably come first. After seeing Hrannar's results with the 28, I have become curious about that lens, so maybe that is next. Or maybe I should upgrade my ZF21 to ZF.2 first. I am always forgetting to change the lens setting.
But first, a pause. I have bought too much recently and need to spend time learning and settling.
Lars: wonderful, moody!
Andrew: well done very fresh spring pictures
Bob: dizzying! (also, what an amazing amount of travel you do)
Dalmas, funny, those palms on ice
Carsten, yes, the 50MP has by far the most stiff focusing, the 21 being the "feather touch" and the 35 somewhere in between. Have read this somewhere else also, so I'm not worried. Haven't used it long enough to say if it will loosen up though. Maybe the reason for that is that the barrel extends quite a bit near MFD, the stiff focusing might prevent gravity from shifting focus.

Hmm, no one answered. I'll repeat my question to 50MP owners:
is the focusing ring on your copy stiff? If it was, does it get better with time?
I got my new 50 MP today. The focusing ring is very smooth. Exactly as my 100MP and 21/2,8 focusing rings. But I belive different copies have a bit of variation. I had another 100 MP a couple of months ago that was a lot stiffer.

Hmm, I guess I just got unlucky, but it is good to know that it doesn't have to be that way. I will try to work it a bit back and forth and see if it improves. If not, I might send it to Oberkochen, which isn't that far from here (I wonder if they will even service it there?).
