I see you have that one FS - I like the "N" zooms, a lot - but I "really" like the "N" primes - the 50 "N" does what I need in a fast 50 - more so than a Summicron I used to own which I found hard to believe - I am considering selling a Rokkor 58/1.2 - it's just not getting used because of the 50 "N" - nice WO and blindingly sharp/contrasty stopped down. Some are mentioning that they're not getting the 3D out of the Zeiss 50's - that one sure does. There are other 50's that may be "better" for WO portraiture - but for a lens to be very good WO and close in and be able to be great for infinity landscape - that one certainly does it. jmo
M, Yeah it's a tough choice to put it up for sale and I won't really be disappointed at all if it doesn't sell, but for the price I can get 2 or 3 Oly's that I'd really like to try.
I've been looking at the OM 35 f/2.8 Shift, the OM 50 f/1.2, and OM 90 f/2 macro.
Sigh...now you've got me thinking about de-listing the sale and looking for other ways to come up with the cash for the Oly's...
-J - Don't let me influence lens decisions - but I am curious what you would want to do with the Oly 35 shift? I've always liked what I've seen from the Oly 50 & 90. The Oly and "N" 50's are definitely different tools - tough choice between them as to overall usefulness.
Doc - nice color in that flower shot - we still have a few months before the spring color shows up.

M, Have recently been thinking about doing some panorama shots, so I figured an
Oly 35 Shift would be an easy way to do some small ones. As well I would be able to
use it as a plain 35 since I don't have that particular FL right now. Of course now I've
just purchased a Panasonic GH2 so I'll have to re-think my entire lens line up as I'll
most likely be selling my 5DmkII.
I guess my ultimate aim is to reduce the physical footprint and the financial footprint
of my entire kit. So with that in mind I'm trying out some lenses that might have great
IQ and might have versatile uses.
The big question is whether or not I'll actually be satisfied with anything else after using
a 5DmkII and some exceptional lenses.
oh, and a couple final shots from the N50 (yep I sold it and it went out in the mail today)
metagraphica, if you are suffering from seller remorse, I do have a spare copy of N50. Just in case you didn't know. Bo-Ming is in the midst of creating an adapter for EF lenses to go onto NEX with AF and electronic aperture. When he launched that adapter, the N50 will be the first lens that I use on the NEX.
[added] I read that the OM35 PC is a preset lens, will be quite a challenge to use.
Has anyone switch from N17-35 to ZE 21 + ZE 35/2 combo,
Sounds like that age old winless debate of prime IQ vs. zoom convenience - I have both - and the C/Y 21 prime is probably my most unused lens - love the IQ but inconvenienced by the wide fixed 21mm FL and too large and heavy to carry around "just in case". I use a C/Y 35-70 for my 35mm landscape prime - very, very close to the IQ of the Z* 35mm prime - but has the convenience of a zoom with those cool C/Y colors. I find 24-28mm a more useful FL than 21mm.
I've been meaning to do a test of the 17-35 vs the 21 prime - although the 17-35 is very strong at 21mm I'm sure the prime would edge it out for overall IQ but not by much. I did do a test of the 17-35 vs the C/Y 35-70 @ 35mm - stopped down you could not tell a difference using a 5d.

The now-moribund 16:9 website has this comparison of the Nikkor 14-24 vs. Contax N 17-35 vs Contax 21 shot on a Canon 1Ds Mk III. It may answer some of your questions (or perhaps all of them) as well as save you the effort:
