@Andreas: Nice to have some contributions from you again! That last shot is a great example of "true" 3D.

so you own the new version and the c/y? that's cool! Have you compared them by doing the same shots side by side? I guess, many people will be interested in that. Or have you just borrowed the c/y?

Hi Cyra ....I now own the new ZE ...and I have a customer of mine who has the C/Y, whom has graciously told me I can borrow it anytime!! I tried it once, and liked it very much, and will do so again....but maybe because of the shots I took with it, I didn't notice a huge difference. But they weren't side by side either!!
I would really love an MMJ version, but the prices are ridiculous on Ebay right now ....and I already have the ZE....so I'm pretty happy right now!

Ajay and I posted a comparison of ZE 35/1.4, C/Y 35/1.4, and ZF 35/2 here:

https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1001754/0?keyword=ZE,35#9512660

Unfortunately, it looks like the links to Ajay's shots are no longer working, but you can still find our thoughts on how they compare.

hi,

would be nice to see some pictures directly comparing

C/Y 35 1.4 and
ZE 35 1.4, cause

there are some rumors, that the bokeh is even more smooth at the new one, but the 3D pop is a bit less

here HFT (Rollei) 35 1.4 at 2.8 and 1.4:

.. the lens is absolutely amazing for short distance shots

best, L.

Sorry guys, looks like I moved some images around. Here are some shots with the new 35/1.4. The set has ones similar to Wayne's shots.

Leady,

Do you mind sharing some of your post-processing techniques? Your images really pop!

thanks

in fact, there is some post processing...

- first i choose the crop, usually 70-100% of the picture. (I like the squared format.)
- increase the exposure, decrease the highlights
- increase shadows
- increase contrast
- decrease the very dark colors (make black black)

with lightroom (since 3 month) i also have the chance to use selective sharpening, which was done on both pictures. Also a post-crop vignette helps to focus on the middle of the picture.

however, when you decrease the file size then do also re-sharpen a bit at the very end - that helps a lot.

There is a nice book of "David duChemin" (Vancouver). That book is relatively expensive, but he brings it to a point: "white must be white and black must be black" !! really good book!

best, -L.
