FF-sensor is in fact great. i hope there will be even larger sensor-cameras in mid future
I decided for the rollei distagon mainly inspired by the pictures of "denoir", that is, what i like. (thanks denoir, great pictures !!) and also for me the pictures of the new distagon did not have, what i wanted. but there are not many people out there, who use already the new one. if many excellent fotographers are out there, the situation might change...
however, the weird triangle bokeh is usually not disturbing, since short distance pictures are made at f/1.4 and at longer distance you do not see the triangles. but the pop-effect you also have at smaller apertures. it is a nice lens.
I have been scouring the net (and this great thread) after first seeing the new ZE but then I came across the old C/Y Distagon. From what I have seen, I much prefer the "pop" of the old lens.
I am looking to use the C/Y on my 5DMKII. I was first looking at the 35mm 1.4 but the images from the C/Y just having "something" about them. Really breathtaking. There are a couple on The Bay but I dont mind spending $1300-1400 for a decent one (is anyone selling one? )
Can anyone who has the old lens offer some advice about it? What range of serial numbers are best to get? MM or AEG? Japan or German? Is there one adaptor that deals with the focus to infinity issue?
Any help would be fantastic......Show more →
Hi, I am selling mine on mflenses, it's in "bargain" condition, with some marks on the glass. the price is 650 euro.
I'm thinking that my C/Y Zeiss 35/1.4 has nudged out my Minolta Rokkor 58/1.2 as my current favorite.
I love them both, but I really like the great MFD of the C/Y Zeiss 35/1.4 more so.
I keep both with my 5DMkII in my "quick grab" bag.

EDITED: desaturated the reds, and used the CONVERT to profile rather than assign.
When I used assign to colorspace sRGB from ARGB, the reds shifted, a LOT!
Dunno why I've had it my head to use assign all this time...
