technically it was the office area, not the actual lab bench so it's all good (or at least that's what I'll pretend... wasn't working with anything too dangerous today )
The unsharpened picture looks very clean. I don't see the veiling haze that was evident in my 35/1.4 ZF copy. Maybe it's the lens or my camera (D90). I decided to return it. Glad you got a good one!
mine has maybe a hair of the haze at 1.4 though it's way too early to tell... my copy is very contrasty and sharp at 1.4 though stopping down to 1.6 does improve things a bit (closer to my 100/2 MP) ... I haven't even tried stopping it down more yet Sorry about your experience... sounds like perhaps a bad sample though with the QC from Zeiss I was hoping there wouldn't be copies with bad defects
I decided to exchange it for the 100/2 MP and I'm picking it up from UPS tomorrow (it's funny how they try to deliver it in the middle of the day when you're at work and they make you go there and pick it up if you really want it right away)! I'm excited to test it out. I'm sure I won't be complaining any more about the sharpness or anything with this lens. Maybe I'll revisit the 35/1.4 in the future since I really like that focal length.
yep...the 100/2 is insanely sharp though the 35/1.4 that I got isn't that far off on my 5Dc.... I'm sure on a higher density sensor the difference would be more pronounced though... anyway, congrats on the new MP and I can't wait to see some pics
