This is my favorite thread. Can somebody show me the MTFs for the old zeiss 35 1.4? or rather the "sweet spot" f stops/working distances...
i have a rollei distagon 1.4, from 1986, i have found finding an adpator qute difficult and was actually told by a lens converter in taiwan this lense cannot be adapted for 5d2.
So i got an adpaptor anyway from peleng with af chip and it caused the mirror to hit and had no infinity. It also interfered with the aperture ring as it was not of a big enough diameter. so after shaving down the adaptor so it did not affect the aperture ring, i then removed the plastic seal from the back of the lens that was hitting the mirror, this had solved two problems.
But... has anyone adjusted the focus on a 1980's model rollei distagon 35mm 1.4? there are little screws but all they do is losen the focus ring, when retightened it does not change the stop position. much appreciate some advice.
thanks, yes that looks exactly like my lens however there were no screws underneith when i removed the rubber grip on mine. Must be different again. The only screws on the barrel are just below the rubber grip.
This time i tried loosening just the one smallest grub screw and could then play with infinity focus, leaving the 3 others tight, so that worked.
However i cannot focus to infinity without the mirror hitting now, actually the lense is miles away from getting to infinity fully wound back on a 5d2.
i think i am over it, thanks for your help, regretfully i am going to sell it. it is too expensive a toy to keep just for close ups. its such a shame i like everything about it, the size, the colors, the weight, just wont work on a 5d2.
Sorry, I might have gave you incorrect info. It's been so long since I made the adjustment I should have said AFAIK. I should also have looked at my lens first. Now I think it is the screws just outside the rubber on the focus grip.
My lens won't focus at infinity wide open, but reaches it by F/4 or so, which is fine for my uses. Be careful in letting the mirror hit the lens because it can cause marks in the coating on the rear element.
One question in this page with amazing shots :
This afternoon I bought the CZ 2/100 ZE (in house wednesday or thursday). I need to see if I change this 50MP with a CZ35 !!!!
My second post in the FM forum.
I must admit that this thread has been one of the biggest turning points in my photography. Its actually turned everything on its head (even my bank account which included flowers/chocolates/gifts for the wife as well ) It also involved a lot of shuffling of my gear. I cannot describe the effect this lens (and the other C/Y lenses) has on me.
Thanks to all who have contributed such fantastic work and shared knowledge.
Hopefully. I'll maintain the standard of this forum.
